The WP shadow

No shadow for medhead last night but I don't think he was complaining

I really enjoyed the conversation. Even if someone else did most of the talking. Still have 9 minutes of my movie to see. That'll be a first, needing 3 flights to watch a movie.

Btw this is an open invitation to let me know if departing Sydney on a Thursday. I could've offered J lounge.

All of my bookings use to show X in EF - some stuck, most didn't ...... not anymore.
What I am trying to say it is just a seat block that almost anyone can grab near departure.

And here I will attempt to prove to you how people are worrying about it for nothing and anyone can have a spare seat next them. Even a nobody in row 4.

I have 4D pre-allocated since T-80 hours. Last to board the flight to find someone in 4E. But 4A is vacant.

As it turns out 4B and 4E are an item. Doors close and she gets the attention of 4B and indicates she will move to 4A. He says wait until after takeoff.

We have taken off and seat belt sign is off so I put my screen up. She does the same. She is staying put without further words since agreeing to sit together. He gets a special meal. Status? I don't know.

So 4B got a shadow and a Platinum in row 4 did not. Lightlly loaded flight by the way.

I think the general gist of the conversation is that something has changed in the QF seating system. What was an automatic allocation of a block seat at time of booking has been removed.....

Ain't no shadow in the middle of the fairway, which is far superior place to be than row 4!

I know a few who would put themselves into a middle seat so they can have the entire free seat to themselves rather than having to share.

And why do 4D, 5D, 6C, 6D, 7D, and 8C get shadows and you don't?

Shadows work in mysterious ways, I guess. Once I had the entire row of 4 seats blocked on a flight that had a 90% load, while they put someone else next to me on a flight with 70% load - where I simply moved myself a couple of rows back.

Weird, why would someone have put themselves in 4B rather than 4C?

Because 4C is probably blocked to the Gold pax who chose it so that QF can fulfil a WP or above's seat preferences for aisle or window I'd imagine.

No opup. Flight was ultimately very full so understandable that there was no shadow. The automatic shadow is now dead for me - of my eight upcoming domestic flights over the next week no shadows for any of them

Recently on the A380 I was able to select the seats adjacent to 32/33 Window at T-80 for a NB. Window seats already taken by what can be safely assumed as WP given the seats are not available to SG and below prior to T-80.

So I have noticed that a lot more shadows seem to be appearing row 7 in the 737s then rows 4-6. Seems like lots of people check in late online/mobile and then fill up what looked like a shadow to me. I then notice a few rows back shadows in 7 and 8 but 4-6 full.

Hmmm my give it a go next flight.

Slightly off topic but has anyone noticed 4A and 4C blocked even at T-24 for WP? Does anyone know if these seats actually open up at all? Thanks.

Have always been able to book these at T-80 on KTA-PER flights

Just add this to QF's long list of enhancements for their most valued customers...

Shadow today in Row 9 :p

I moved to an earlier flight giving up 4C :(

On the flight I took, 4B was occupied, but 4D was not.

I'd rather have a shadow than Row 4 on a SYD - MEL hop.

Checked at T-12 and the 4A and 4C opened up, was able to book 4C but on board, noticed both 4A and 4B were NB. I'm perplexed as in how the "enhanced" system works.:evil:

Just for further confusion, 4D and 4F were unblocked from T-80.
