Would you complain if you paid for Crown Lager and was served VB?

if not, have I got a deal for you.
If I'd ordered Crown and got VB I'd be disappointed.

But if they promised Crown and only loaded VB then so be it. Most of the time I wouldn't even know what beers or spirits they promise before. They give me a choice and I choose one.

Why is the label so important for champagne and wine?

Because it's not about the label, it's about the contents.

Because champagne is part of the F experience and I don't want to be served two buck chuck?

You wouldn't claim all party pies are created equal would you? Same for champagne.

It's not just F where enough champagne isn't always loaded... I was on a QR J flight, evening departure in a full cabin out of DOH, and the Pol Roger Rose was all gone before boarding had finished. Had to switch to the Taittinger Rose for my third and fourth PDB (oh no!). But again it's about perspective. This was a 7 hour overnight flight, there were 4 champagnes available (2 white/2 rose) and not everyone was drinking so QR thought they had loaded enough. But perhaps to the person who loves PR Rose being made to switch to Taittinger would be a poor reflection on QR.

The crew were amazing on that flight though and were most apologetic that they had to serve something that wasn't my first choice (not that I cared, I just didn't want my glass to be empty).

4 different champagnes offered on QR J?
Now this is impressive!

They also serve Krug in the A380 business bar.....Pol Roger and Tattinger seem to be the regular seat drink.....

Very nice they are too!

Yes obviously I don't quite understand.

In line with what others have alluded to, it's part of the F product. All or nothing.
As an extreme but valid example, if you booked an F ticket and got given the Y hard product (ie the Y seat, not the F suite/bed), you wouldn't be happy, would you.

Yes very impressive what you can do when you only pay workers $40 a week and work them to death in 50 degree heat and bury them in mass graves.
Yep - I understand Qatar is one of the worst offenders in the "modern day slavery" categories. They are definitely not on my list of airlines to try or countries to visit......

Right and whilst I'm on my high horse I also have to be ready to admit it's a salient reminder of the benefits of living in a country like Australia. Also to recognise, using that annoying cliche a little differently that Qantas has a "first world problem" with a first world cost structure including staff and associated people having good working conditions, pay, benefits and being treated with dignity. Perhaps I should stop some of my complaining and pay the price. That said they do also need to deliver the product or they definitely won't survive in the long term when we see the cost advantages most of the competition has.

Okay, time to dismount horse!

they may have a 'first world' cost structure, but they also charge a first world cost structure for flights from Australia. Fares from here can be much (much) more expensive than buying the same one from Europe. They also slug us with extra fees and charges such as for using credit cards... $30 on every international booking.

I don't see any of the pricing structure preventing anyone, anywhere along the supply chain, identifying a missing product and being able to rectify it? Why can't someone from the lounge race down to the plane with half a dozen bottles of champagne if they notice they haven't been loaded?

Yes that's an extreme example.

I suspect, and I could be totally wrong, only a few people research and care about the wine/champagne offered on any flight. Most just accept the choice they are given.

Do people care the same way about spirits? Some may care. When I ask for Gin and tonic I don't care if it's Gordons, Tanqueray, Beefeater, Hendricks.
