My guest Dean. I went to school with him and played in the A’s together. Brilliant cricketer - opening batsman and Fast/medium bowler. Captained Australian U19 team to India. His father played for Qld, one of his sons made the U19 Test side last year but then got shin splints.

Okay, time for opening and decanting a 2017 St Henri for lunch

According to the menu “Wine is recommended” with all three courses.

I am shocked.

Day 3. A little bit of cricket then some rain.
They should declare if they want to get a result

Today, only 6 of us. Yalumba are the sponsoring winery.

Okay, another bottle so we can do a side by side tasting:

We’re being served by cricket royalty. His uncles are Ian, Greg and Trevor…

Main course:

First ball screamer by Starc neatly got a wicket. When at first you don’t succeed, try 2nd ball. Back to the sheds:

Another famous Qld and Australian cricketer dining today:

Back for the second sitting, except we’re not eating.

Getting the ground ready after two rain showers

Greg Ritchie with QCC GM/CEO Lachlan Furnell in the Wisden Room (intermain Platinum Club):

Gave Lachlan a bottle of St Henri 2016 (along with Operations Manager Jacob). Staff got cash because they’ve all looked after us the last 3 days.

Settling in to watch some cricket, watch the rain pass over and everyone run for cover, the covers to come on and then off, then we get another Indian wicket. Rinse and repeat.

Time to open another bottle (we’ll we’d almost finished it)

Better photo of the Yalumba table

We wanted to try this as well

Then, like clockwork, another Indian wicket. Pant gone and then the rain comes again

Excellent performance on the field by the groundskeepers today. I thought their timing was spot on, and they handled the torrent of fast paced deliveries galantly.

They were a little slow with the covers. Once they were ready to roll the up and the rain started again. Better communication with the BoM needed

It’s a small world. Seems that our server even lives on the same street as me. What a small world. One of our group is an artist and drew him (and his uncle Greg) from a photo:

We’re back playing! Finally…

That's beautiful artwork but it reminds me more of Ian rather than Greg. Your server definitely looks like a blend of his family members. Thanks for sharing your experiences.
