Third Test, Australia v India, Gabba

I'm getting a bit frustrated posting these:

Pant has 5 catches to some very ordinary shots! You can't tell me they are playing 20/20, thinking they can bowl out India:

Quote from cricinfo:

Drinks Australia are very clearly trying to set up a game with this batting. Given the radar though it does seem a bit pointless. A huge rain storm is approaching fast. But on they go and India are back in the game until that arrives. Abhimanyu will come into commentary.

I'm sorry, I think their game plan is flawed. Have they seen the thunderstorm coming. They won't have enough time to bowl out India, even if they get to bat.

It seems to be about intent - I actually like it. I highly doubt India can win from this position, considering the rain. But giving it a go, especially with a week off until Boxing day - the slim chance of a win is worth going after. 5 an over on this deck is still not easy

India won't try for it - there's insufficient time and overs, given the storm coming. It'll probably wash out the rest of the days play. Just over 50 overs left in the day (that's wishful thinking)

From cricinfo:

2.33pm And the players are off for bad light! And that will also be tea. What a frenetic session this was! Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj and Akash Deep ran through the Australian batters as they tried to get some quick runs. Australia eventually declared for 89, leaving India 275 to chase. KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal saw out the 13 balls they faced before bad light meant the players had to go off. If miraculously we don't get any more major interruptions, we could have some excitement in store for us.

Play is scheduled to resume at 02:54pm, so around 20 minutes from now, if the weather and light permits. Join Alex in around 20 minutes for the start of the final session of this Test match.

Yes, there's a rather large storm coming....that little space before the next rain won't be enough time.

At least they can say they were batting for a declaration, with that awful scoreline. I think they knew there was no chance of a result so threw the bat and set an impossible target. Two overs in and it's probably over now.

Sure enough:

2.56pm There's no play post tea at the moment. It is about to rain very heavily and for a long time. There won't be another ball bowled in the game. The covers have been nailed down.

We're getting the thunder and rain starting here.

I'd did have a :D about this comment on Twitter to the commentary team:

Tejas: "Why don't the teams just call the game off, go to the hotel and relax? Why this waste of time?" I'm sure a few players would love an early beer.
