This doesn't surprise me - Qantas kick off The Veronicas

So you're not a fan of Qantas. Surely the actual truth about what occurred with the women needs to be told?

Also, you need to remember that they have a television show to promote. I wonder if that played a part in how the incident played out?

Not surprising when staff are "peer trained" to proactively escalate relatively minor incidents to "security risks" as a strategy to avoid negative feedback.

Hopefully someone who was on the flight will post with a bit of background, it's easy to see how it could have been either side escalating things.

Sounds like it really only escalated when they starting videoing on a smartphone in reaction to a belligerent FA. FA presumably took very great exception to this (as sometimes happens on various airlines), decided this was a "security risk" and called the AFP.

Putting aside the possibility of a "celebrity" DYKWIA moment, I think it's pretty simple: if you put your stuff in the overhead as requested the plane can take off and nobody gets inconvenienced. Regular plane travellers, as these girls would be, know that to refuse to take instructions from a FA simply will not be tolerated no matter whether the instruction is to your liking or not. It is inconceivable that the FA would simply accept being ignored. When you fly, the rules are completely different to catching a cab, a train or a bus.

were they ( the veronica's) flying in J or whY ?

Late edit: it was in Y. so not even an entitled " I'm in J" rant. I guess it will all come out in the wash

"do me on the floor" is about all you need to know here. Oh yeah, and in the early days their target audience was 14 y.o. girls. Lovely.
HAHAHAHA
The song is actually called "Take me on the floor" - the video clip features people dancing on a dance floor.

But don't let the facts get in the way...

From what Ive read, the V Twins were sitting in their Y seat and their bags in overhead.

FA asked V1 or V2 to turn their bag around. So FA could close the overhead?

V1 or V2 said they couldnt as they are both vertically challenged (5ft, 1') but a pax behind them did it.

Question is, how loud did everyone get to get this done? Loud enough for pax behind to hear that it was an issue and do the task.

Wasnt there so I have no opinon.

The article states the FA indicated they're not allowed to handle passenger's luggage....!?!? Yet I've seen crew handle passenger's hand luggage on many of my flights. This type of inconsistency in messaging is ridiculous. What do we make of it? 1. this FA is blatantly lying? 2. Other crew member's are breaking the rules when they handle luggage? In either result, the crew are at fault and applying the rules inconsistently.

Good point.
On at least one occasion when I couldn't find space in the overhead lockers, a crew member took my bag aft to find space, then returned the bag to me prior to diembarkation so I didn't have to "swim upstream" to retrieve it.

Also, ask the FA to show the "rule" that bags have to go in wheels first...? I can't find it on the QF website. Yes, sure, we know anecdotally that is the preference, and I've seen from time to time placards which show this is preferable (maybe on an airline in the USA...?) but if QF can't produce the written evidence in a publicly accessible location, how can they enforce such a "rule"? Again, sounds like over-zealous FA to me... and I've seen plenty of them on board. (In fairness, I've also experienced plenty of non over-zealous crew members... in my experience, these outweigh the cranky ones....).
