So true...... the tiny FAs on SQ, JL, CX are just more than happy to help... lifting bags.. smiling.... generally being helpful and doing their job. As others have noticed, many of Qantas' "issues" with regard to their often poor attitude towards customers seem to be a real "Qantas" thing... you don't see it as much elsewhere? As someone mentioned in another post "thank god for Qantas or else there would be nothing to complain about on AFF" or words to that effect.... having said that (and this is tongue in cheek for those with no sense of humour)... I have always wondered why the FAs on many Asian airlines, SQ especially, are so young and beautiful. I just assumed that they were fired when they got too "old" probably around 26yo.... but maybe, just maybe, they all left with broken backs after lifting too much cabin baggage!!!!They won't all be like that, but I know a woman who worked long distance QFi for about a year, and her comment to me was an aside as to how some of these staff used the excuse 'I'm in the union' to avoid assisting passengers at times like you describe.
On other airlines I generally observe cabin crew assisting with placing bags overhead. I prefer it under the seat in front.
But seriously.... back to the original theme of this discussion... calling the AFP over a passenger dispute re cabin baggage is just ridiculous. Complete waste of resources and time. And if the pax name can be dragged through the mud, I have no problem with the other party's name being dragged through the mud too. A little transparency is not a bad thing.
