This doesn't surprise me - Qantas kick off The Veronicas

Many complaints online from reasonable posters about a culture of declining service (and food.)

Declining food ? Maybe (I would have said declined :p ).

Declining service - on board - definitely not. QF cabin crew have been delightfully consistent - in their inconsistency - for many years. I don’t think anyone on AFF would be surprised at encountering a QF cabin crew member with such an attitude - but nor would they have been surprised 15-20 years ago either.

I won't. It's pure filth and no decent society should have to put up with it. 'Take me' / 'do me' - all I hear is the pure sinfulness of these 'musical-types' !!!:eek:
hahaha

Take me on the [dance] floor. I'm not sure how anyone can see a sin in dancing, outside of Footloose.

Ecclesiastes assures us that there is a time to every purpose under heaven. A time to laugh and a time to weep. A time to mourn and there is a time to dance. And there was a time for this law, but not anymore.

Also, ask the FA to show the "rule" that bags have to go in wheels first...? I can't find it on the QF website. Yes, sure, we know anecdotally that is the preference, and I've seen from time to time placards which show this is preferable (maybe on an airline in the USA...?) but if QF can't produce the written evidence in a publicly accessible location, how can they enforce such a "rule"? Again, sounds like over-zealous FA to me... and I've seen plenty of them on board. (In fairness, I've also experienced plenty of non over-zealous crew members... in my experience, these outweigh the cranky ones....).

on all of my recent flights the instructions around wheels first have been very clear and succinct, so either they weren't listening or there is much more to this story. i am confused though about how they managed to put the bag up to begin with!

I think the poster enjoys taking the p!ss even more...

A little unimportant detail is yet to be uncovered. If the girls are short (what's that 5'1 in modern measurements, 155 cm?) and all goes to the plan, how were they intending to stow their luggage in the first place when boarding the plane? And how to retrieve it at the end? They must have a way of doing it.
So, if the issue revolved around "not being able to turn a bag around", how was that different than the maneuver at the end of the flight (remove bag) coupled with the maneuver at before the flight (place the bag)?

Fair point, but perhaps when initially arranging their luggage, a taller passenger helped them either lift and stow it or just the latter. Some passengers help others, nor just by being a Good Samaritan as He intended us to be, but also because everyone wants to be able to move down or up the aisle to their booked seat.

Only been half following this story. Watched the project tonight.

So they did an interview before the show. Usually interviews are live, so I am unsure why this wasn’t. They basically went through the sequence of events. Asked to move bags, replied they were too short (how’d they get the bag up in the first place?), crew member said they couldn’t and walked off to get a supervisor while passenger behind did the moving for them. All stuff that has been reported already.

New information was that they started filming because the (now 2) staff members wouldn’t give them their names when asked. My eyesight isn’t great but when crew are on the ground they display their ID more visibly in my experience. Maybe the Veronicas are as blind as me. Regardless, they crucially said they were not asked to stop filming.

At the end of the interview the host points out that the video they posted was edited, lots of fading to black then a new scene with missing info. He asks if they’d share the unedited version. I think they initially misunderstood the question as they said they couldn’t because there were now legal issues. There was puzzlement by the hosts, then the Veronicas and then when the question was re-asked they said they’d share the unedited version. Interview ended.

In between that interview earlier and the live show Qantas has provided a statement to the effect that the Veronicas were asked to stop filming and did not. The host of the project points out that that you must follow all crew directions.

The final word is that the Veronicas management has chosen not to share the unedited video.

Based on that short story alone, sounds like either a publicity stunt for whatever they’re working on or that at the very least they were in the wrong. If I had conclusive proof on video that I was right I’d release it.

I find IDs very hard to read in any situation because often the person with a lanyard (or attached to their shirt/blouse/jacket/skirt/pants) is moving. If stationary, one has to really peer to see it. Many parents taught us 'it's rude to stare.'

An alternative explanation for their rectitude may be that QF is a large corporation. They may be petrified that QF would sue, as per your mention of 'legal issues' (or more likely just quietly ban them from QF/JQ flights.) The latter wouldn't be a penalty in my view because many airlines are superior to QF. The only problem is that competitors in Oz don't fly everywhere QF does, if that matters to these individuals.

It's a real sign of arrogance for staff not to give their names.

Perhaps Kardashian wannabes, but travel in Y without an entourage?

Ha, hahaha. Yep - nothing says "successful" musician/entertainer like travelling in whY.🤦‍♀️
I was on a plane once that was held for Michael Hutchence to take his seat in whY. Not that I think it's equivalent and at that stage (well past Kylie) he could afford J.

Not sure why they needed the cabin crew names. If you decide to make a complaint, then include the flight number and date. Management can then investigate. How many cabin crew on a 737? Four?

A bit worrying about the need to video. If needed as possible evidence, then why not release the evidence?

Also, I googled The Veronicas out of curiosity, having never heard of them before this.: Twin sisters, Lisa and Jessica Ongliasso, performed as The Twins, now The Veronicas, been around since 2004, and launched their exclusive fashion line only available at Target stores. Not sure where they do their gigs.

And how would dr.Dao have gone if no one had videoed his incident with United.

Yes, but the video was released whereas Lisa and Jessica don't want to do that it seems.

And, for those wanting to see their next performance, get to the Caloundra Music Festival on the first weekend in October. :)

When it comes down to it, ID cards are not meant to be for passengers. They are an ASIC and just a government requirement.

I believe it’s their use of the term legal issues in the sense they want to sue. Not that they’re worried QF will.

Just saw a post on a music site

A passenger known only as Greg, told The Courier Mail that “They were just in a belligerent, ‘I-refuse-to-do-what-I’m-told-because-I’m-important’ load of rubbish.”

“They’re not stars, they’re C-graders. I recognised them because my daughter liked them, but everyone else was just going, ‘What the hell?’,” he said.

“They were just being obstructive and not following instructions. The plane was getting pretty agitated.”

“They got marched out, and one of (the sisters) was filming the whole thing.”

Greg was flying via business class where he alleges that he overheard the cabin crew talking about removing the sisters from the flight.
