Throwaway 3K ticket for SIN F lounge access

As posted above the actual offence I think is s22, which is being in a protected place without good or lawful reason.
I should have read a bit more...... although s22 still fairly light from my read. Your reason for "getting there" and then "being there" is still the same, it is all linked to the primary flight you have presented to airport staff. Lounge access within a protected space is a different governing body that you may be misrepresenting your intent to (you have given no misrepresentation to the government) ........ but I am in no way taking the first step with this interpretation, just keen for some feedback if it works :)

Yes I agree. With the OP’s Scoot boarding pass they will be legal in the protected area (s20) *and* there for good and lawful reason (s22).

Use of a lounge with a throw-away ticket would likely only be an issue with the airline and its FF program.

The one place I probably wouldn't want to mess around with is S'pore. Remember you can be fined for chewing gum on the streets!

Maybe see if a 3k ticket is still cheap to book once you have cleared immigration

I'm curious whether OP might want to simply book SIN > KUL as a return flight and simply take the flights. In that way they can legitimately enjoy the F lounge at SIN and whatever OW lounges there are at KUL. In addition, I reckon it could be a good opportunity to harvest SCs should they be in need of any.

As someone who skirts the rules regularly - I have done this in SIN although using a manner described earlier in the thread.
Worked for me - Departed on a SQ flight but used a QF flex booking I rolled forward and then back after it gave me lounge access. Had some $2k locked up for a future redemption but I had more travel to book for that year anyway.
Was pre-covid so unsure if anything has changed.

IMO the MH F lounge in KUL is actually quite good, been there several times and have never been disappointed.

If I understand the OP correctly the plan is to fly SIN-SYD but maybe on scoot or another airline that is cheaper than QF (I maybe wrong) so there is a legitimate reason to be airside. The flight SIN-KUL is just to have a 3K BP to access the QF F lounge. Not sure if I would go to that level of effort and depending on the OPs status or the friend they may be able to talk their way into the F lounge but this would come down to the lounge agent on duty. When it comes to lounge access rules I like to think of them as guidelines and see what I can get away with.

I just realized if OP was flying from KUL back to SIN on JQ in theory they may not have access to OW lounges given they are flying JQ (correct me if I'm mistaken here).

I'm a little uncertain about what OP is trying to do. If they want to leave SIN for SYD on say Scoot then what difference would it make if they also hold a boarding pass for another flight departing for KUL? It's been a while since I've been to S'pore so I forget if they have emigration like Australia or if they use a more civilized system like the US. If there is, maybe a customs official would raise an eyebrow to someone holding tickets for two outbound flights. Another thing for the OP to consider is flying to KUL on JQ (thereby giving them QF F access) then flying from KUL back to SYD where they may have better luck at finding cheaper fares on OW carriers or heck even award availability (I hear MH is notorious for dumping classic award availability on the QF site).

Another thing OP should consider is if they hold lounge access by other means. For instance, if you hold an AmEx Platinum card you'll have access to a number of lounges at most airports irrespective of who you are flying with. Some lounges may even allow you to buy in if that makes sense.

I don't think they are planning to go to KUL (on 3K)
No one "plans" on going to KUL but I reckon some of us still do if the status credits can be had at a cheap rate or if it positions ourselves for a good routing! 🤣

n fact if 3K allow online checkin and mobile BP then maybe wait to checkin until airside?
3K do not allow online check in right now. Everyone must either use a kiosk or if the destination requires paperwork then queue up at a desk. Offically they claim you can only check in 2 hours prior to 3K flights however last week when I was up in Singapore I was able to check in a bit earlier than that.

Thanks all for the input.

I was sceptical this would work without any issues, but was curious if anyone had tried it previously. As mentioned, the motivation was to meet with a friend who'll be in the SIN F lounge on the same evening.

Completely appreciate that Singapore is probably not the best place to try this, and for fear of future issues with SG immigration, I think I'll just stick with my LCC plan and use the Plaza Premium Lounge.

Last month I was able to check in at SIN T2 for my 7pm'ish 3K flight to KUL shortly after midday.

Hi all, in perhaps a slight variation on sudoer’s idea, has anyone had any experience doing something similar in Australia?

I am OWE so I am able to access the F Lounge, but only when travelling on OW. I have a friend flying out on the same day who will be in the F Lounge. However, as I will be flying JQ, I will not have any lounge access.

I was considering booking an QF award flight to NZ using QF points, checking in for that flight, entering the F Lounge with that QF boarding pass, cancelling the award ticket (hopefully online but if not, by calling them) and then departing elsewhere on the JQ flight I intended to catch.

Has anyone had any experience doing anything like this? One issue that particularly comes to mind is whether the immigration systems can detect someone on the same passport being checked in to depart on two different flights on the same day.

With what frequent flyer program do you hold OWE status? If Qantas then flying JetStar will grant you QF F lounge access. If your status is from another OneWorld partner like BA or AA, then yeah you wouldn't have access since that lounge carve out for JQ is only for QF Elites.

Seems a bit risky. What if you aren't able to get the award ticket cancelled before the cut off time for your frequent flyer program? I would also be curious whether any red flags might be raised by ABF considering you clear emmigration with one ticket that you later cancel. Another option to consider is simply both of you going to a different lounge. In particular, at the SYD international terminal there are several non-airline operated lounges that might be worth meeting at including the AmEx Centurion lounge, The House lounge and Plaza Premium Lounge. These lounges can all be accessed if either of you have the AmEx Platinum card with some of them even allowing you to simply buy in to the lounge.

That's a potential issue and keep in mind too!

Thank you for the response. OWE is with BA so no access on JQ for me.

Unfortunately I do not have access to any other lounges and am trying to not make a friend pay for an inferior lounge, which is why I was canvassing this idea
