Throwaway 3K ticket for SIN F lounge access

This has been done before in SIN. I can't recall if they booked a (jetstar) flight departing before the flight to OZ, or after. Perhaps before because ISTR some avoidance of contact when the throw away flight was ready to depart. I'm not sure if there was any negative outcomes post travel.

None of the laws quoted would appear to impact the OP. They have a valid reason to be there - i.e. get on a flight to Oz.

Agreed.

The two boarding passes may raise questions and need some earnest explaining, but if @sudoer intends to, and actually does, fly out that same day before midnight, then doesn't appear on the surface to break the Singapore rules.

I didn't end up needing to, luckily a SIN-SYD BA seat opened about a week before departure. I was a happy camper in both the QF F and QR J lounges!

Which one do you prefer between those two lounges?

QF F for food & beverage (example dishes here), QR J for showers and space/privacy (some info in this post)

The QR J FIFA snack menu has ended and they've brought back more mains, so perhaps QR food has improved. You can see the current menu here: https://www.qatarairways.com/content/dam/hia/pdf/qr-singapore-lounge-en.pdf

Was your BA last minue award on J?

Yep - see the pics & details in this post

BA seem to release last minute W/J awards on this route about a week out, depending on unsold inventory. Despite only two seats booked in F, they didn't release any last minute F awards.

After QF F closes, the QR bar is supposed to be nice to hangout waiting for the 2am to DOH.

With QR early checkin from noon back at the Jewel (plus QF already), you could have a seriously good lounge crawl as a OWE with a OW J BP in hand.

Ideally you'd have both a QF J/F BP so you can visit both the EK and QR lounges
I almost said that, but didn’t want to be seen to be too greedy! 😁

Unfortunately, my last trip out was on QF72 (departed ~6pm). Even with a 1hr delay, the QR lounge opening at 6pm wasn’t going to work…😢. EK opened at 5pm but I was quite happy with my first QF F visit.

Oh...

My journey back from Mumbai is a 9 am arrival at SIN following by QF36 (19:40) in J on one Sunday in February.
Well, a lot of time there. Definitely a fair amount of time for (open) lounges, but tbh I'd either grab some Z's or even go over to Jewel or even into the city for 3-4 hours... come back and go for the crawl :)

QF lounge doesn't open until the afternoon...
dont get me wrong - red eye arrival, there will be sleep first even with SQ J on the way in...

i'm guessing about the only lounge open at 9 am will be that thing that CX use. I rate sleep way higher

The big challenge will be opening hours. If you arrive on time you'll be able to access EK lounge, currently listed as open until 10:10am:

The other OW lounge options open at

QF F & J - 3:15pm (4 hours before QF2 & QF72 on Sundays, 7:15pm departure)
BA J - 4pm
EK J - 5pm
QR J - 6pm (or reportedly slightly prior)

If you have Priority Pass or Plaza Premium there are a few options open all day but they're certainly not worth sticking around for IMO

Personally I would relish the opportunity to gorge on cheap Singaporean hawker food for a few hours  My itinerary would be something like

- EK lounge for a shower before passing through immigration, then ATM for some cash
- Grab to Mihrimah Restaurant for a Prata Ikhwan & Teh Tarik breakfast
- Bus straight down Victoria St to Hong Lim/Chinatown Complex/Maxwell (infinite hawker stall options..)
- Bus back towards Old Airport Rd hawker centre for more food, and a beer at Hello Ren Min if it's open
- Grab to Pink Blossoms Brewing on your way back to the airport. Middle of nowhere but objectively the best SG beers by a very long way.
- Grab back to the Airport, straight to QF F for another shower and a change!

The advice is very welcome.
honestly, I'm focusing on what I need to do in Mumbai at the moment. One of the people who will be there has proudly mentioned that they always look up the Michelin stars for every city they visit. There was a very special dinner in Paris a few years ago (pre-covid). I'm really wondering about the Mumbai options.
But it is wonderful to have suggestions and options for the trek home.

If you have less time, east coast lagoon hawker centre is a reallly quick cab ride away. Go to Ah Hwee for barbecue chicken wings.

Bedok market is even closer, I’ve managed to eat there on a 4 hr layover and achieved a shower before boarding.

Better than any lounge food.

If even more pressed for time and happy to eat in a food hall you could go to the staff canteens and get local food at local prices. You will be eating with airline staff, Immigration and security people etc. We have eaten at both and they serve normal Singapore 'Hawker' food at about half the price you pay inside the Terminal for more homogenised food. No-one bats an eye at your presence.

Terminal 2 from around the 3.40 mark
