Ticketed Qatar Flights Disappeared

Quick question for you.

If I book backup reward flights and Qantas are then able to reinstate, will they be able to book those seats in given there's already bookings for the same dates? Is there something in the system that stops clashing bookings?

I worry that if I book backups and then somehow Qantas rectify it then we'll be stuck in Y instead of QSuites.

Be prepared for a long polite fight. You'll have to consistently insist on being accommodated in the same class of travel due to a Qantas ticketing error causing you Qatar flights to auto-cancel. As frustrating as it is, just don't be rude.

Same thing happened to me. QF Schedule change by 10 minutes, e-ticket not reissued fast enough, QR flights auto-cancelled. I only discovered same as you, by logging in. I was logging in every day to try find a better route home, so picked it up same-day.

Qantas requested QR reinstate. QR Refused.
20+ phone calls with consistent polite refusal to be put into economy class for our honeymoon. My argument was "My Qatar flights were auto-cancelled due to a Qantas ticketing error, I don't think it is reasonable for me to have to accept a downgrade due to an error on Qantas' end"

We were eventually put on QF9 on converted revenue seats. A garbage product compared to QSuites, but 1000% better than economy.

I was very lucky, this all happened when the "Priority" airport phone numbers actually routed to Hobart. I'm not sure how much harder it would have been if I only had contact with Fiji.

I would be e-mailing Tully immediately. 'Our flights on Qatar Airways were auto-cancelled due to a minor Qantas schedule change. The ticket was not re-issued by Qantas within the Ticketing Time Limit of Qatar Airways, this is the sole reason for the auto-cancellation.'

I would also be pointing out that you have had no communication, and theoretically could have arrived at the airport without a valid ticket due to no fault of your own.

Good Luck.

I wouldn't worry about that. If you get ahold of someone competent enough to fix your J booking then they will deal with that issue as well.

Just logged in to Q app and flights are back albeit showing as on request so that's a start!

Hopefully they go through and we get our biz seats back.

If not I've found some seats back in business via a bit of a convoluted route that I'll book.

Thanks for all of your help, I'll update once everything is sorted....one way or the other!

What can we do if we have a minor flight time change (I had one by 9 minutes this morning) to try and avoid this, when you don't even have the option to accept the change to try and force a ticket re-issue?

I received an email this morning that an AA flight had changed, by 6 minutes.
First email arrived at 11:30am advising of an update to my booking.
Confirmation and eticket email arrived 30mins later.
CMT app notified me about the change before the first email.
I wouldn’t let it go more than 24 hours if no eticket

Mine was AA by 9 minutes. Notified about 12pm today, still no new e-ticket.

I had to call QF about something else tonight, so also asked about the new e-ticket. Agent from CPT claims if a change is less than 15 minutes, they don't reticket, they just 'revalidate' the ticket.

Kind of makes sense, but also doesn't match your experience or my previous experience (where I believe all time changes for my OWA were reticketed, including those under 15 mins).

Wonder when the reticket timeclock starts ticking?

I received a an email from AY of a timing change & flight change to a later one but same route over a week ago but have received no such notification from QF about this.

I'm travelling on this ticket currently & in Europe with comms I'm not sure if I can rely on to call QF & get things sorted if flights start dropping off.

There was another thread where I informed everyone interested that QF never ticketed the changed AY flight and only did so after me calling Qantas 4 months later and explicitly asking to do so. Otherwise I rocked up in HEL with no ticket to SIN in October. I suggest you call them and ask them to reticket. The good news is AY does not seem
to auto-cancel like QR.

The flights in the QF app that were showing as "on request" are now showing as confirmed so a good result. Now just need to get my seats back that I'd selected (and paid for).

It is worrying though that this could have happened and that it took me stumbling upon it to find out!

Great outcome!

Did you receive a new eTicket?

That is a tremendous outcome. Maybe Qantas are finally learning how to fix their own mistakes.

You shouldn't need to pay for seat selections for a J award on QR - you can usually do them either on the QR website or by calling them.
Yes, push very hard on this - despite the normal English meaning of the word "confirmed" it really only means "temporarily reserved until ticketed." It's not actually fully confirmed at all.

Re seating, that's correct but as they are not yet ticketed I can't change the seats on QR website yet.

They have told me within 24 hours, is that reasonable or should I call back and politely ask them to ticket while I'm waiting? I don't want another QF ticketing delay to boot us off the QR flights again
