Time for new card when platinum qualified?

Is it normal to get an email when you qualify for a new level? Have not received one for my Gold qualification three weeks ago nor Platinum qualification two weeks ago (thanks to a PTY run ;)). Status has been reflected correctly online and on BP's. Wondering if I should call the service center to see if I'm going to receive a membership kit (the bag tags will come in handy).

Well done By the way welcome to the merrygoround

I got an email after I hit PS indicating it would take up to 14 days (I called and the agent said that actually meant 14 business days and he told me the day they sent the card out) to get a card. I reached SG earlier this month (did not get an email) and my card will probably arrive soon. I will reach WP next month.

Well done By the way welcome to the merrygoround

Thank you :). Merry go round indeed! Already planning trips for next year to retain status, lol.

I got one the next day. Screenshot:

Interesting. I wonder if it is because you qualified with more than 1400 credits. I hit exactly 1400 (thought it would be 1405 but miscalculated an AA short discount Y sector). Or perhaps because my qualifying flight was not QF. Oh well, as long as I get the membership kit I'm not too worried.

Got my member kit 2 weeks after hitting Platinum

This info has suddenly become very relevant as we go WP in a couple of weeks - very excited to join the merry-go-round. Thanks for posting the info.
Number #1 son is playing catch up and doing a PTY SR to hit WP only a couple of weeks after me - he's gone PB->PS->SG->WP in one FF year. The status bug has bitten us all hard :) !
