Time taken to assess requalification status and send new card

Please take note VFF. A very good point!

Agree - for people who requalify months before the review date (and the online systems say as such - "achieved"), I don't see why they should be subject to a month of potentially needing to argue with VA's partners. I like status for helping to reduce the stress of travelling through priority + lounge access, even the risk of needing to debate eligibility takes away substantially from this.

I requal'd WP in Jan for an Aug 31 renewal date. I am now in the US and my one month grace expiry ends on Monday. No idea what will happen on Delta next week without a new card, outside the grace period. It is ridiculous. Not happy Jan.

To update - old card expired 6/9, new card received yesterday 2/10. Given that I requalified in June this is nowhere near good enough. I'm off next week, but could just as easily been off last week without the new card, and be denied access of benefits.

Agree. Am in a similar situation. Have sent feedback to velocity via website- and received an unsatisfactory & generic response (not sure they read what I asked, just got the theme and cut & pasted an answer) that they'll provide a letter I can show to the partner lounges.

I'm pretty sure I posted earlier that Velocity are managing exceptions, while the majority are inconvenienced, and worse at risk of not being able to use the benefits which they are entitled to. There must be a better way!

Why can't they simply issue a new card as soon as you re-qualify to cover the additional 12 months (i.e if your review date is 30 May 2014, and you re-qualify in December 2013, simply issue a new card with expiry 30 May 2015). Problem solved.

Bingo. Problem solved.

Seems very logical.

It's taken 10 working days for Velocity to assess my status as platinum (although I requalified in March & prior to my anniversary their system recognized I had maintained plat). Now for my card to arrive in the next week...

Can confirm this is a problem, accessing SQ Gold Lounge in SIN on Monday resulted in an argument over access with an expired WP card. Eventually was allowed access, but really shouldn't have to fight this out, had re qualified in June, with a 6/9 expiry. What's more, even if I hadn't re qualified I would have been Gold, and still had access. The lounge is so poor it wasn't even worth it.

This pretty much mirrors my experience, DESPITE having a letter from VFF asking SQ to provide me lounge access. I requalified as a Platinum months prior to my review date (see OP). QFF manage to get reviews done efficiently for those clearly over the threshold. It's disappointing that VFF haven't managed to work it out yet.

Me too. And velocity Call Centre staff admit the letter may not suffice. Am still waiting for my new card, review date was 24th Sept, I re-qualified back in March...

What a small world! We share the same anniversary... I've only received an email from Velocity:
"Your new card will be with you shortly. In the meantime, continue enjoying your benefits by using your existing card until the new one arrives."

Snap! Got that too, and also a letter from my feedback. Need my card by next Wednesday or I'm off o/s without it...

My new card came in the mail today! The letter was dated 15 October and the envelope was postmarked 18 October...

Don't forget to pack it in after all that... I'll remember to wish you happy anniversary next year!
Ha, it's in my wallet ready to go! I'm not missing the Etihad First lounge...
Thanks, and good luck with your re-qualifying!

I haven't noticed this before, but even the Velocity email system knows that I have requalified for platinum, months before the review date. All I could think of when I saw[TABLE="width: 530"]

was - if even the emails know this, why on earth does it take a month for the renewal process to send out a new card?

The card takes at least a few weeks. I can't remember about the email (but bare in mind, many of us can't for love nor money, get VA to email us as our profiles are set for) but the best way to check is to log into your Velocity account and check your status there. It should definitely (by now) be showing you as gold which will also mean domestically, all gold perks will be available to you. If your on-line status does not show gold, get straight on to them (perhaps even PM the AFF member Velocity Frequent Flyer, who is a VFF official rep.
