Time to give up on Qantas

Seriously can we not turn this thread into another Halal gate ? :!:

As for the comment about the DXB Lounge F staff I have had the exact opposite experience with them in my numerous transits through DXB. They are fantastic IMO.
Yes I would rather transit to Europe through HKG/SIN but for me it's not a deal breaker and I particularly like the new timings of QF 9/10 as I used to love QF32

Say what? Neither do Islamic folk.

I would suggest the following words were omitted ...

"... while at Dubai!"

Which as already indicated is incorrect.

Or perhaps ...

"... while flying Qantas to/from/via DXB!"

Which is correct.

To me pork related circumstance are hardly a deal breaker ... at this point in time I will continue to fly Qantas as a means to an end. Otherwise it's best suited fares for me.

10 years ago I was 100% a qantas traveller - these days it is maybe 30% as I continue to optimize my travel experience.

.... find it offensive that QF do not have it as an option.....

I disagree. It is a small gesture but reasonable.

Should a Chinese citizen be ¨offended¨that dog is not on QF menus ¨as an option¨?

My travel rules are always the same - even if I disagree with habits/customs in other cultures, I respect them as any visitor should.

I've had the NP inspired Pork Schnitzel .... be thankful anytime you're on a sector where it won't be served!

I disagree. Why does the Islamic law win out? It is an Australian airline, why shouldn't if offer Australian staples on the menu? I agree that they should offer a non-pork/Halal option but not at the expense of all others. Islam does not rule the world, at least not yet anyway.

Has nothing to do with ¨ruling the world¨. That is not a reasonable comment.

It is simply an airline respecting the religious sensitivities of the country where they wish to land.

My point is that Qantas is not a Middle Eastern carrier: it is an Australian carrier and should reflect this is with its product. By your reasoning, EK should offer pork on flights to/from Aus, NZ and Europe (& most other destinations). As you say, this would be a small gesture

RBA or RB as they are now known, don't have alcohol on board its aircraft, do they?
NOW, think about that, MEL to BWN to LHR, no grog.
Would that be a choice, for those who have to fly to LHR?

Qantas should serve koala, kangaroo and may be horse meat because pork is too common.

I didn't think I'd find a Flounge that was (much) better than the one in Sydney. But there it is. I was looked after very well and had a fabulous time. I don't know about Dubai as a stopover, but for a transit, it's great!

What is "Australian" is changing. We have a lot of Islamic folk in our nation, just as we once had Catholics and Baptists and "Balts". BFD.

I don't mind too much if I don't get bacon for brekkie. If they stop serving bubbly, that might be a different matter.

I distinctly remember having kippers and champagne in the Flounge at DXB - that was delightful.

I'm not even sure they are trying: Flounge reception staff more often rudethan not, not enough showers (& then they often smell bad),
Ah, that may have been me.

…no cold water in the handbasin for cleaning teeth, no priority boarding from Flounge, all the seats are on walkways so no quiet areas to sit, no windows to look out over the apron and those impossible lifts from the loung to the gate. Add to that useless transit security screening...

I would much rather, and do, transfer at LHR
The delights of Heathrow. Right. The Flounge at T5 has the showers outside. There's no easy meal service. The staff are so-so. Maybe TCR is a lot better, but I doubt it.

I found the Flounge staff delightful. Well-trained, friendly, and helpful. The direct boarding from the lounge worked well. I was traveling Y and walked straight on.

Looking forward to my next transit there, frankly.

I can live without pork. I can even live without bacon. It just doesn't matter for a flight. I don't like the smell of pork these days. I do like my glazed Christmas ham but that's a once a year treat.

Pork isn't an Australian staple.

I'm sure you realise that many other airlines travelling there don't serve pork too? Pretty sure VA don't serve pork on the ME route. Anyway it's a minor thing and nothing to lose sleep over.

Personally for a transit, i now prefer DXB over SIN or HKG. If i was stopping over i would probably prefer HKG still.
