TomCat's new digs!

While we did have a bit of a severe medical crisis after we built, but it’s also easy to let up. And it took us ages to get back on track. But there has to be days when you need a break and then you look around and want to get going again. Plus, there are other things on your mind.

We’ve had an enforced break on the reno’s here because of Christmas and those builders breaks. But come Feb and I’ll be pushing them to get cracking again. They’d delayed doing the external painting as they wanted consistent weather; well they’ve got that now. We’ve told them everything needs to be finished by end of March. We’ve been doing the garden up for over 18 months - it was already established of course but it needed an update and we started these house Reno’s about 10 months ago knowing it would take a year all up. And I’m making sure they do it by then. Now we are pouring the water into the gardens etc in this heat.
This weekend will be a much needed break before we did in again next week. Then its home straight till the baby arrives.

In Victoria I have found that the resident is responsible for the nature strip.

That is true, but actually if the resident is non-compliant (like the people that rent the house on the corner here), the council comes by and mows once every six months or so.

Clearly not in our area given the ridiculous weedy nature strips around...

In our old area they would come and mow, then send you the bill.

Soil and turf ordered so that we can complete the front and side path next weekend. This is the general plan.

Box in the front is where we've planted the tree. Planter box to go under the window then grass for the rest.
Pavers and river pebbles up the side path. Standard roses for either side of the path. Garden to right of driveway will be left for now as it will only be damaged when (if) building starts on that side.

I am guessing you are probably already aware, but a tip that we received was to use at least medium sized river rock to avoid having it move around too much when walking over it

Definitely want a larger rock, the small stuff goes everywhere.

Baby moon this weekend, I am looking forward to the break!
Hope you’re having a great weekend and the bite reaction has gone down. I was thinking about the whole Babymoon idea yesterday. When I had first born no one did that; maybe we couldn’t afford it or maybe busy doing other things but it wasn’t something people did. Just like honeymoons overseas; most people did a driving trip in Australia somewhere. We went to Canberra on ours! :p

It's just a weekend in Queensland. I need the break from doing stuff around the house.
Face still looks terrible, the red has spread and it's quite puffy.

I'm not sure when babymoons came in. I'm guessing about 15 years ago but we never got to take one. The closest we came to a babymoon was the holiday we took in order to get pregnant - and it worked.

Just a bit before gender reveal parties. I mean really, gender reveal parties?

Thought some antibiotics were safe to take.
Penicillin. Which I'm allergic to.

Well we've learnt our security system has one major fail point. My mum popped by to feed the dogs and turned the system off  apparently she was trying random switches inside the house to turn on a light in the garage and turned it off. Keep in mind both the dogs and their food were outside....

So the flaw is your mother...... :p

It would seem so....apparently it’s our fault for not labelling the switch, though in my mind no one should be wandering around flicking random switches (or at least flicking them back if it didn’t need turn on what they were looking for).

I wouldn’t label it. It needs to remain discrete if it can be switched off easily, for obvious reasons.
