it is really hard when building - budget never seems to stretch far enough. You are probably already doing this, but concentrate on the things that can't be changed or are hard to change. E.g. Very ordinary taps can be replaced with designer ones when you have the spare money, but structural is much harder.
Will you have access to the block to put in a couple of trees at the back? It will give them a head start before you move in. Assuming you are planning the garden already!

Standard when you have bushfire requirements. Though obviously the bushfire pack comes at a cost.
