TomCat's new digs!

Its the same with the admin; instead of having things nicely lined up, they do one thing, then phaff around a bit before moving onto the next thing. If they'd done things concurrently we'd be long into the build by now.

I note the words "scheduled". I trust all the ducks line up (including weather)
Sure. I think that just seeing something physically happen to the site will be a great relief, (to all of us :D) as currently it’s all just paperwork. Once you see stuff actually happening you know it’s real.

46 pages and not a trench dug yet!

I don't have details but my understanding is that it may happen sooner if everything lines up. The initial step is site scrape, as they need to excavate just slightly at the rear of the house (150mm apparently). Then they'll do all the plumbing, then frame up and pour the slab.

Not looking like a wet week next week so fingers crossed it says that way.

Unlocked our tap and removed another blob of concrete this morning, so we’re all ready to start. Our only concern now is the lot to the left has their construction fences well past the boundary line onto our lot, and the site scrape for their garage also appears to be over the line.
There have been a few instances of builds crossing boundaries in the estate, so we’re keen to make sure that’s not the case here.

Gosh, you’d think they’d survey properly and just give a couple of seconds thought that your block might just need it’s full space for your build. Did you drag it back? I’d be sooooo tempted but I guess we are talking heavy duty fencing. Maybe stick some flags where you know it’s on your land? Annoying.

Far too heavy for us to move. It's on our block the whole length from front to back  we've flagged it with our builders we want to make sure none of their build ends up on our block.
They're also marked the boundary line on the back fence inside our lot, with a lovely stripe of blue paint on my nice stained fence :(

The peg with the pink tape is the corner of our lot...

That warrants a claim on that builder for damage to your fence. Is it a large blue paint job? Our builder scarred our timber stained gates with a bob cat. No problems, he’d take it away to be fixed. He came back and he’d PAINTED the entire 2 gates with brown paint. So angry.
Gosh, that is seriously damn annoying. I hate Stuff like that happening. Damn cheek. Where are the brains. Guess they thought they’d get away with it. They don’t know TomCat very well. It’s just a fence line so presuming there is no actual build nearby.

Fences and neighbours. Even in the build stage.

I guess they will take it down when your fence lines up and you will share an adjoining boundary fence.

Such a pain and angst you don’t need. Hopefully your builder gets on to it. Back fence needs sorting before they start building next door.
It means you have to be out there checking everything!

Oh Wow. You're amazing putting up with everything that has happened. Life has been hectic for me at the moment and I lost track of the thread for a few weeks. I thought you'd have some slab photos by the time I got back in touch, especially as there had been so many posts, but we're all still waiting. You've been so brave and patient.

I'm never building. My husband will probably want to build one day but I'm not having any of it. My father-in-law built a couple of properties and my husband helped do some of the work on the last one. The early properties were in the days where you could live in the properties before they were actually finished. That's not the life for me.

Good luck with everything. Well done for getting the concrete situation sorted out. Good luck getting the building fences sorted out and the boundary lines recognised and established. I'm looking forward to seeing construction photos. Great drone photo.

We have a back fence, thats not the issue. Its the lot to our left which seems to be creeping too far over the boundary line onto our block. With the constuction fences up its really hard to check the boundary, and it was soooo muddy.

Don't worry too much about this. It is just temporary fencing, it will keep moving through the construction period for access etc. All that matters is the actual pegs and survey set out, as long as the slab is poured wholly within their lot you have nothing to worry about.

No that's what I meant - I know your fence is there and has been painted (hard work that). I meant I hope the builder gets onto the apparent grab of your land where they have marked it on the back fence.

Agree, those survey pegs are what counts. It must be annoying for people that their land is conveniently being used to prop someone else’s fence up but maybe that’s just the way it works in bulk housing developments. Couldn’t work in established areas without full consent of the owner.

Currently we have Telstra back to our street. They’ve put a barrier across my driveway. Just did it. No one asked if I wanted to get my car out. Typical. It was NBN again Saturday.

Except their survey pegs appear to be on our side of the boundary. Hence the concern until we can confirm their slab is on their side. I dont care about the fence, its just in the way of us being able to check the boundary line.

Another house in our estate was poured 60cm across the boundary line, so it does happen.

Yeah, the construction fence doesn't worry me. It's that where they appear to have pegged out for the garage pour appear to creep over the boundary.
