TomCat's new digs!

I already have the giant inflatable reindeer for the front lawn. There will definitely be lights, and probably some big red bows around the front pillars.
Our street does this around the large street trees. Many streets in Adelaide have large purple bows for the jacarandahs.

So I've been trying to get in touch with our admin person for a month now. On September 17 I was promised an updated invoice the next day. Haven't been able to get in touch with email or phone since.... was hoping to finalise the amounts before we head away on the chance that we could get keys when we get home. Frustrating.

Hope you do manage to get a date. Must be incredibly frustrating now as it's so close.
I think this has been the worst part, as it seems like such a long time for so little to be happening. The supervisor thinks the builder will want it off books by end of month, so I'm hopeful for an October 31 handover but we shall see.

Some good news at last.

Fixes are 99% done, just need the chip in the front door frame to be done. Rubble has all been removed from the back yard so we can go and put the fence back together.

Occupancy inspection happens tomorrow, and the builders inspector will go back through to check everything.
The sooner we get the certificate, the sooner our bank releases the cheque. Once we have that they will book in appliances, with the aim to get us keys by the end of next week. :D

What are the appliances? I thinking just hot water and oven? Or is dishwasher also included in the specs?

That wont take long at all then.
It's more the paperwork side of things that takes time.
Occupancy inspection tomorrow, so they hope to have the certificate by the end of the week. That then goes to our bank, but I'm not sure what the turnaround time is on producing the cheque. Once we have that they can book in the appliances and a handover date.

Broker is saying itll take the bank 7-10 days to produce the cheque; load of bollocks given they've had the final invoice for a month.

I confess that we still use cheques for some things but are banks still exchanging real cheques for settlement transactions. I thought that side of things would all be electronic now.

The reason for using a cheque for handover is so there's no confusion as to whether the payment has been made. You do have the option of the payment being made electronically, and the rest of the progress payments are done electronically.

And considering how some recent new-fangled electronic house settlements in NSW were hacked and the money went missing, I personally prefer the old fashioned way for now.

I'm ok with needing a cheque, but I think 10 days to produce it is taking the ****. I could walk into my bank right now to arrange a bank cheque and have it within minutes.

Have emailed the bank and told them settlement is next Friday to give them a little nudge  I've also emailed our admin to say we need the occupancy certificate yesterday basically to be able to settle on time. ;)
