TomCat's new digs!

Be nice if the tradies would clean up after themselves...lets just say the powder room smells like a public loo and the toilet is full of cough (quite literally). The toilets don't even have seats yet!

Had a good chance to think about our landscaping plans today too, really looking forward to getting things done.

This is a rough idea of what I'm planning for the front yard.
Front garden idea.jpg

Iceberg roses along the front path. Crepe Myrtle in the front yard then grass for the rest. Planter box under the window with a standard rose that we were given, an agave and probably some natives (looking at Conebush).
Then some plants down the side of the driveway, either more natives or something like lavender. Area near the letter box will have extra roses and probably some bulbs like daffodils.

That little corner cut in the driveway, is that councils decision or yours?

Going to look good once you get a nice lawn in place of the rubble

Very interesting plans.

I love your choice of green for the plan. I know it won't be that bright on the finished product but I'm enjoying the pretty picture.

Are you supposed to be able to see the back fence when you open the front door?

Which cut? The driveway angles to meet the crossover.

I'm not sure what you mean. You can see down the hallway right out the back .You won't see the fence once we plant trees.

I'm not used to being able to see the far back of a house when the front door is open. I guess that's what they mean by open plan living these days.

We live in an old Tudor and can see straight through to back yard.

The view will be obscured once the dining table goes in. Its just visible because the house is empty.

If youre into feng shui, furniture or flowers/plant on the table is an idea to disturb the flow of energy in and straight out of the house.

If youre not into feng shui, then I like the light and being able to see the back yard, especially as BC will have green space out there (unlike some of her neighbours that have no space).

A very artistic rendition :)
It will look great. About the flowers at the front, a friend was saying she visited a place as part of the Canberra Garden Society last week. The owner had a wonderful display of tulips out the front but the night before the Club visited, someone came and dug them all up. She was so upset, and not surprising. :( Hopefully your plants will remain intact.

For our roses we use downward spraying mini sprinklers to avoid water going on the leaves. We have had brilliant results and the neighbours wrongly assume I am a gardener.
Currently we are growing hibiscus to screen off the rear building that overlooks our back yard. I think 5 metres will achieve the result we want.

I'm guessing you know a thing or two about sprinklers, @cove ;):D.

A little bit JohnM as this year will be 40 years in March,2019. My lack of interest in gardening has grown over that time. Some of our roses are awesome and were planted about 45 years ago by the original home owner. He has a vast olive farm these days.
The rose perfume is totally the result of our gardener.

We use the milk spray with excellent results. Raining today but have already sprayed in preparation.

Was at my local Bunnings and lots of aussie themed blow up inflatables on display :) Go gaudy (or that could just be me)!

We had our solar power laser light stolen from our house so now have it cable tied to a steel pole 8ft in the air - my house is red and green flashing lights all year round :p

I already have the giant inflatable reindeer for the front lawn. There will definitely be lights, and probably some big red bows around the front pillars.
