The food might be one thing I will struggle with in Japan. I have tried sushi and just cant seem to swallow it. Don't like the smell of the wrapping either. Its like my stomach rebels. Any suggestions?

Will enjoy the Italian food pics now. :p

Don't worry they do love Italian food and even in places off the main tourist spots you will almost certainly find an Italian restaurant.
But so much Japanese food is not that unusual for western tastes-ramen or udon dishes, tonkatsu, suikiyaki or shabu shabu and you really should try some tempura.
Sorry but back to Tom and Blackcat.

JL F was amazing. Crew were simply outstanding. I'm not sure if I can make a call between them and SQ at the moment.

LHR security makes the TSA look positively efficient and friendly

And BA have welcomed us in the Concorde Room :cool:

Glad you enjoyed JL, their service is indeed second to none. Looking forward for my next flight as I really miss Salon and can't afford to have it on the ground :D

How did you manage to enter the CR? I thought pax must arrive/depart on BA F or have the rules changed?

Sashimi!

There's nothing added unless you voluntarily do so.

Often accompanied by various soy sauce concoctions, pickled items and/or wasabi.

But but but - that is raw!

Ok. Waiting for pizza pictures here.

I only started eating sushi a bit over a year ago. It's taken time to train myself to be able to eat raw fish. And there are still many sushi items I won't touch.

I'm not sure either, but I'm not questioning it

As far as I'm aware the rules have not changed.

But but but-so is that Italian dish carpaccio.

So cross that off me list too!

In Italy I would try the different pizza specialties of the region. Each day. Up for the challenge TomCat?

What do you mean Pushka that it's raw - that's the whole idea :) There are a few sushi and sashimi toppings I give a wide berth too but most are yummy. Speaking of carpaccio, if it's good quality it's yum too, though MrLtL doesn't do it after watching the vultures working on a dead buffalo at Sabi Sand :)
A well made one pizza is heaven but can be hard to come across here with the Australian penchant for lots of toppings and fat, doughy bases.

The pizzas I had in Italy were almost always a disappointment. You can get far better here, in my opinion. The calzones on the other hand were magnificent. That's my tip for good, simple Italian fare.

Interesting, pizzas we had in Milan were generally awesome.

I feel exactly the opposite. After every visit to Italy I can't eat the pizzas here for a while. Too much focus on the toppings but not enough on the dough and sauce. Some exceptions can be found in Melbourne.

Can't get pizza everywhere. We had a fabulous antipasto and bolognese for lunch today...

Anyway, back to JAL. We took an uber from the Hilton to the airport and beelined for First check in. Boarding passes handed over and First tags secured to our carry on. Security was quick and easy and within minutes we were in the lounge.

Straight to the spa to book a massage slot, then settled in some seats looking out the window. The lounge is quite large, but there is also a smaller Red Suite. In there, you could pour Laurent Perrier into Riedel glasses. In the main lounge, Duval into JAL glasses. We tried both but the former got our vote.

For breakfast we had freshly cooked rye pancake with egg, ham and cheese, followed by Japanese breakfast of rice, curry and miso soup.

Shoes went off to be shined while we enjoyed our massages, and before long it was time to head to the plane.

Sorry, I disagree, had many fine pizzas here over the last 2 weeks (and over the last 3 years) with more to come, all have been much better than anything in CBR, thinner crust, less cheese and toppings, as being sort of ontopic, we passed a Japanese/Chinese restaurant here in Port Ceresio, north of Verase, but didn't venture in.
Now back to the thread.
