excellent TR so far guys! excited to see the rest of it! hopefully it is as much of a trip of a lifetime as you anticipated it to be ;)

Reidel stemware is designed so the liquid lands on the spot on your tongue where the taste is most appreciated. Which sounds a little far fetched but a nice story anyway.

When in Milan check out Panzerotti Luini, which is around Duomo. They sell little Calzone pastry and the specialty is cheese and tomato. There will often be a long line out the front but its definitely worth a try if you're around the area.

If that's a white QF P1 bag tag Mr TomVexille, you might need to update your AFF profile!

Oh that old thing...

Let me elaborate, I still have fewer lifetime SCs then the required total for P1 in a year. My DYKWIA (since I didn't earn it) tag was a very generous gift from a fellow AFFer.

Time for boarding arrived so we headed to the gate. We'd missed the F only boarding but were second in the priority line and were on airs within minutes. TomVexille was shown to his seat, while j was pointed to mine. No matter, it gave me time to take some photos.

Eeyore took his spot and once one FA had spotted him, they all came around to have a giggle and pat him. Champagne for pre-departure is Delamotte (the J bubbles).

Amenity kits are from Loewe. PJs are given out when requested.

Before long we were on our way, taking off simultaneously with another JAL aircraft.

I know, this ole' thing? Had it in my closet for weeks.

I have one of those too. Again, not earnt. Shame my suitcase is so battered it looks rather wasted.

My goodness, this changes everything! Next time I see someone with a white qtag I'm going to give them a knowing nod.

I'm glad you had a wonderful time in Japan. It's my favourite place on earth. Generous amounts of champagne eases the departure.

And generous amounts of red in Italy. We've had to start drinking our purchases so as not to lug too many home :D

Excellent idea. Spend a bit more per bottle and search out aged Barolo, Brunello etc and drink locally. Much better than dragging mediocre bottles home or paying exorbitant shipping plus inbound WET and other taxes. Plus, Italian wine tastes better in Italy.:)

Everything tastes better on holidays. Tried mixing a new discovery coughtail found on a cruise at home, clearly it was as much about location as taste.

Nothing we've bought is mediocre.

Loving this thread - enjoying the travels while stuck home with a nasty lurgy that won't go away - keep it up TomCat

Currently in Manarola about to enjoy some catch of the day for lunch...the weather is stunning, the massive, pushy tour groups not so much.

TomCat doesn't drink bad wine.
Have spent many many months in Montepulcano drinking Nobile.:) Contucci is ok but WRT more for the tourist. Try some Boscarelli, particularly the Nocio and you'll be blown away. Visit them if you have time and Nicolo will give you a fab tour. Also try Valdipatta, not to forget the brilliant bar of E lucevan le stelle, plus restaurante La Grotta.

If you are in the area also pop over to Biondi Santi outside Montalcino for the Brunello.

Just catching up after having been bush for the last two weeks. BP now scanned.

Way too far away now; on our way to Lake Como in the morning.
