excellent TR so far guys! excited to see the rest of it! hopefully it is as much of a trip of a lifetime as you anticipated it to be
If that's a white QF P1 bag tag Mr TomVexille, you might need to update your AFF profile!
Oh that old thing...
Let me elaborate, I still have fewer lifetime SCs then the required total for P1 in a year. My DYKWIA (since I didn't earn it) tag was a very generous gift from a fellow AFFer.

My goodness, this changes everything! Next time I see someone with a white qtag I'm going to give them a knowing nod.
I'm glad you had a wonderful time in Japan. It's my favourite place on earth. Generous amounts of champagne eases the departure.
Excellent idea. Spend a bit more per bottle and search out aged Barolo, Brunello etc and drink locally. Much better than dragging mediocre bottles home or paying exorbitant shipping plus inbound WET and other taxes. Plus, Italian wine tastes better in Italy. And generous amounts of red in Italy. We've had to start drinking our purchases so as not to lug too many home

Pictures, pictures?Nothing we've bought is mediocre.
Have spent many many months in Montepulcano drinking Nobile. Contucci is ok but WRT more for the tourist. Try some Boscarelli, particularly the Nocio and you'll be blown away. Visit them if you have time and Nicolo will give you a fab tour. Also try Valdipatta, not to forget the brilliant bar of E lucevan le stelle, plus restaurante La Grotta.View attachment 73499
TomCat doesn't drink bad wine.

If you are in the area also pop over to Biondi Santi outside Montalcino for the Brunello.
