Ooooh that went so quick :(

I totally struggle with jet lag.

I know :(
Only six months till the next trip...

Had to have a nap so I could stay up for offspring

Thats the best way to get over the holiday finishing. Always have another one in the works. At our age, our plan is every 100 days!

Where to next?

At the moment, PER for AFF#10. Hopefully fit something in before then. There's a trip in the works for the end of the year, and starting to work on a trip to the States for a friends wedding next August.

I admire the stamina of those younger than moi. I am ratso for days on end!

F does help ;)

Personally I've come back to no work, which sucks while I wait for the next job.

We are planning on being in the States in August after a much delayed Alaska trip. All in the west obviously.

Day two in Lake Como started out like the first: coffee and pastries at the little bar in the square. Then we hopped on a ferry to the other side of the lake to look around. The problem with all of these towns is they are set in the hills around the lake...there's a lot of stairs.

This is the day we made our tourist boo boo; we picked a little trattoria where no English was spoken, and no menu provided. So we thought we were just ordering pasta for lunch, when in fact there was a two course set menu. Which we discovered on attempting to pay for the pasta. So basically we paid for food we hadn't eaten. Oops. At least the pasta was good (though simple).

Being our last night in Como we decided on a splurge for dinner, a fancy restaurant down by the lake called Vapore. But not before a bottle of red and some cheese on the deck.

Hate the jet lag coming back from Europe. I start popping Melatonin two nights prior and double dose on the flight back (because it's less effective when mixed with alcohol).

Wine with dinner of course

I had a gorgeous green gnocchi with Gorgonzola to start. So simple but so delicious.

Then grilled salmon

And a little nip of limoncello to finish. Which we got for free because they didn't take Amex.

All too soon, our week in Italy had come to an end....

Your trip brought back great memories.
Thanks for sharing.
Loved Lake Como could easily go back, but there are so many places to explore.
Hate jetlag.
But planning a next trip always helps.

I've never tried melatonin but might pick some up when we are in the US later this year. Keep waking around 4am and taking an hour or two to get back to sleep...

I do that anyway without jetlag.

Waking around 3am is a sign the liver is detoxing???

When you get to a certain age, you tend to wake during the night quite a bit sometimes to go to the bathroom and sometimes just because. I don't need jet lag to do that (like Pushka). Never heard of the detoxing liver though.

From Lake Como, we were headed to London for a night to catch QF10 home. We left Torno at 9am to return the car by 11am and avoid an extra day charge. We were are LIN by 10.30, car returned without a hitch and headed inside to check in. First snag; despite staff at the desks, they refused to commence check in till 11am for a 1pm flight, and sat there fiddling on their phones for half an hour. Then the lady in front of us wasted 15 minutes arguing for something (not sure what), which was repeatedly denied by the agent.
We also had to make sure the agent only checked our bags to LHR as I did not fancy being without clothes for two days.

Premium security was a breeze and soon after we were in the BA lounge. It's not fancy but does the job. It was also very quiet (argument lady must've taken the normal security as she didn't turn up for 10 or so minutes after us). Basic snacks and drinks available, but at least it's somewhere comfy to sit.

BA was saying our flight was on time, but other sources suggested a delay. Boarding was called on time so off we went. PB worked much better this time, and we headed off to the plane and our exit row seats. We'd chosen the D and F seats in hope of an empty middle seat but it wasn't to be. The plane was packed full, a student group who had no idea how to find their seats despite seat numbering being in numerical order
Unfortunately we then got bad news. Due to ATC issues over France and weather in London, we were going to be sitting on the Tarmac for at least an hour.

And to cap it off, the lady in the E seat spent the entire wait time and flight holding the hand of the person in the D seat behind me. Talk about awkward; I had to wait for her to remove her arm so I could nudge my seat back just a fraction. She also kept turning to blow kisses at the girl (I assume her daughter), and then to top it off, a man kept leaning over my seat to show her his phone. I couldn't wait to get off.
Apparently this was the view out the window

The snack box wasn't too bad and I at least got a G&T (with random added plastic bits  )

Our only Y flight for this trip couldn't end soon enough.

Loved the trip report, photos were great, very jelly and brought back many lovely memories of trips to Italy and especially Lake Como which I love.
