The downside of heading back to Corniglia after dinner was the lack of bus from the train. 365 steps. I earned my glass of wine that night.
When it came time to leave Corniglia, we had to brave that crazy road again. We must have been early enough, as we only had to squeeze past a few other vehicles and they weren't nearly as pushy as those we'd encountered two days earlier.
We set our gps for Torno and off we went. We tried to make a stop in Rapello but it was crazy busy so we kept on going. We then pulled off the autostrada a few towns later, but found all the restaurants and shops closed. A little later we found a supermarket, so improvised for a quick car park lunch of bread, cheese, prosciutto and strawberries.
Arriving in Torno, we met our host and were shown to the apartment. It was newly renovated and definitely a nice place to spend three nights.
We were mere metres from the lake edge and there was a large balcony on while to wile away the time.
Torno is a small town and there aren't many options for dinner (a bar and a restaurant by the ferry terminal) but we managed to stumble upon the locals take away pizza shop. Two pizzas for €11 on the back deck with a bottle of red was a winner
