Sarawak

We met up with one of my wife's cousins and family in Kuching and went for a meal to a Malay fishing village, Kampung Muara Tebas, about 25 km out of Kuching at the mouth of the Sarawak River. It is famous for its two seafood restaurants built out over the water. This is the only time we have had Bamboo Clams and they were delicious.

My wife is in purple and her cousin is in the blue shirt.

We visited a Taoist Temple - Quing Shan Temple- on the hill above the Kampung.

Looking down to where we had lunch.

Mingun, outside Mandalay, on the Illawaddy River.

This thing is made of brick. It was started in 1790 and intended to be the pedestal of the world's largest stupa, but never finished. The king got his fortune told and was told that when the stupa was finished, he would die. Down tools!

July 2017 - a 5 day guided walking tour of the Dolomites. One of the best and most satisfying holidays ever.. Stayed in a pension in Badia and each day walked to a chairlift or drove to surrounding area for 12-15k walks punctuated by coffee, lunch and finally beer stops. Look up right path adventures if interested.
