Just returned from my 4th stay here.
Love, love, love it !
Boutique 12 room hotel in Halls Road Pokolbin in the heart of the Hunter Vines. Rates are $860 per night at weekends and include afternoon tea, pre-dinner drink and full breakfast.
Check-in was super smooth, we were shown directly to our room and asked to complete the registration details at our leisure. Our room :
Whilst we unpacked our log fire was set and we settled on the sofa.
Dinner first night was at Blaxlands, casual but tasty and a short walk with torches to the main road.
Glorious sunshine the next morning
And we settled in for breakfast listening to the peaceful bubbling of the fountain.
There was a reasonable spread of continental buffet, with a short cooked to order selection. The Eggs Benedict with smoked salmon were more than a rival for the SYD F Lounge. Washed it all down with a great latte in the guest library
Dinner the next night was at Roberts, it is also owned by Tower Estate and lodge guests are driven to and from the restaurant. Short, sophisticated menu, comprehensive wine list and packed out when we dined there.
A little disappointed at the initial table we were seated at, cold and near the kitchen with constant shaking on the creaking floorboards as the waiters passed. I discreetly spoke with the Maitre'd and we were moved without fuss to a newly vacated fireside table.
When we got back the Lodge staff had kept our fire going and provided some Tawny Port as a night cap.
Finished off breakfast the next day with a Latte beside the Lodge Fire:
Overall very happy with my stay here, it is a little pricey but the service ( staff appear from nowhere at your whim) , rooms and food make it a great choice for a special weekend or treat.
And I almost forgot: no children allowed, ahh how we missed them
