Transfer time at Narita airport

In a few weeks, I’m arriving at Narita airport terminal 2 on a China Airlines business class ticket at 1:15pm.

I then have to get to terminal 3 for a Jetstar flight to Fukoaka that departs at 3:25 pm.

I believe check-in closes 40 minutes before, so I would need to be at the Jetstar check-in by 2:45 pm.

I know this is tight and I’m particularly concerned because last time I arrived in Japan a few months ago, it took over an hour just to get through immigration (arrived on a JAL business ticket.)

I’m just wondering if anyone has done a similar transfer or if you think this is doable.

Alternatively, I could move my flights to a 5:30 pm Jetstar flight but only want to do this as a last resort so I don’t miss out on time in Fukoaka (and coughtail hour in the lounge at the FukoakaHilton lol).

This is international and needing immigration but no checked bags? I really wouldn’t. Transfer times are near nil, 2 and 3 are co-located, but immigration is variable.

We have bags to collect and recheck.

I really wouldn’t. I’ve only been through nrt arrivals twice in the last few months and queues have been manageable, but I’m on an early arrival and hit the queues first. They can be very long at times. Add a few min delay due to airline or the crowded airport and I would suggest it’s very risky.

Thanks. I can move us to the next flight - 4:40pm departure - that gives us another 75 min before departure. Probably a safer option.

I agree, I think moving is the best option. There's too many variables that could ruin your day... even a short delay off of CI could make it really dicey, and bags can sometimes take quite some time to come out as well. Then it's still a 15 min or so walk over to T3 to contend with.

Play it safe I reckon.

I logged into my Jetstar account and lucky me, I had bought a fully flexible ticket. So there was no charge to change it to the 4:40 pm flight.

If the travel gods shine down on me and we happen to get to Jetstar check-in in time for the earlier flight, is it possible to change your flight in the app with a fully flex ticket? I’ve never bought a fully flex ticket before so I’m not sure how late you can change your flight although it does say same-day changes permitted.
