Transit in Brisbane airport - can I stay at a hotel?

Does Brisbane have hotels setup for transit use only? Or are people expected to sleep on the seats in the airport?

Yep, it's bizarre. But QLD has still declared the ACT a hotspot.

I think this is on the basis of "open border" policy between ACT and NSW. Apparently ACT hospitals are for Australians, not just ACT people! And people who live in Quangers and work in the ACT (and maybe even vice versa) are welcome here.

I think we here in the ACT seem to be managing the genuine risks with hygiene, physical distancing, business planning, contact tracing, and a reasonably compliant population.

So what happens if the Covid situation changes? If states and territories start imposing restriction while people are travelling, that might be a problem. Take Melbourne, suddenly travel bans in place.

The IBIS at BNE Airport is a good hotel, although you may find the short vowels a but of a chellinge.

I saw some options to fly with Qantas CBR to DRW via ADL, not the dates I needed, and more importantly, it would also require an overnight stay in Adelaide. I found no information about SA gov policy on overnight transit and quarantine, no idea if it's even possible.

I think you would still need to apply for an SA border permit. Not sure about quarantine arrangements or whether this is possible.

I suggest you read your own post. An overnight stop between flights would be less than 24 hours, which means you don’t pay.

Yep, a 'hot spot' with zero active cases for longer than any other state or territory including QLD

The issue occurred as I understand because some tu$d from Sydney flew to QLD from CBR to escape the ban. QLD decided it wouldn't take the risk of infection coming in via that route.
Piainful but that's what it is.

There is no merit in that 'story' as a justification to declare ACT a hot spot. As part of arrival into QLD, one needs/needed to show ID. They could have easily restricted arrivals from ACT to ACT residents (verifiable via their driver license for example).

The lady travelling from BNE-ADL-PER definitely did need a pass for SA. She hadn't applied before arriving in ADL because she didn't realise she needed it (perhaps she'd read the same website you've quoted above). But she was able to get it on the spot and continue on to her connecting flight.

Not sure if it would make a difference if you were coming from a "hotspot", and perhaps this has changed.

My apologies. Just checked the latest direction you referred to and they have indeed eased that requirement. Makes sense.
Now to read the rest of it to see if there's any complications I'm going to encounter next trip. Keeps me busy trying to keep up with the changes!
