Transit in IST on KF rewards bookings

We are travelling on separate KF rewards bookings; BNE-IST on SQ and IST-OPO on TK with a 5 hour transit. Will bags be able to be checked through to avoid leaving the international transit area in Istanbul and hence avoid the requirement for a visa?

You could ask when checking in at Brisbane, but my expectation would be that this would not be possible as the flights are on different tickets. Which would also mean you would need a visa to enter Türkiye.

Out of interest, did you try calling SQ to book all these flights as a Star Alliance award on a single ticket?

If any company with through check it will be SQ. I’d hold high hopes but get in early in case it takes a while, and check your bag receipt well and don’t lose it.

So no interline on *Alliance? I booked the rewards separately online as the IST-OPO only showed up later.

You can try asking at checkin at Bne (50:50 chance as Sq usually are quite good) or travel HLO.

If you need to get a visa, it is done online and usually received straight away when you pay your $$.
