Next month I will be returning to SYD from Kunming, flying with China Southern and changing planes in Guangzhou. I just wanted to ask for any experiences buying duty-free (Booze) in KMG and carrying it through. Can this be done or does it need to go underneath?

Thanks in advance :)

i don't know for sure... but CAN airport security can be very picky! they took an aerosol off me simply because it said 'flammable' on the outside (the same aerosol has passed every other major airport around the world and within china... but not CAN)

i would also think the LAG rules would apply for the security screening (if required) and prior to boarding. I would aim to df shop in CAN if you can... maybe they deliver it to the gate?

the CZ website should have information.. or go to the China forum in Flyertalk.

Would definitely not try this, high likelihood of confiscation. I would also doubt that you can purchase in KMG, as your KMG-CAN flight will be domestic.

A few options
1. Purchase DF inbound to KMG, or outbound (from KMG) if you can. Repack bags with DF inside, and check from CAN-SYD

2. Buy at CAN (if CAN has DF gate delivery as being an Australian flight there should be a secondary)

There are no IFs. The DF and any other carry on LAGS >100ml must be confiscated before any flight to Australia (by Australian law). Exemptions only apply if you buy at the final airport and have it delivered to the gate (if the shops/airport/airline will do it is up to them) or purchase it in USA/NZ before the non-stop flight to Australia.
