Given its crazily expensive every summer, next year should be a doozy. Athletes and the (many!) support crews and management no doubt will take the opportunity to stay in Europe after they are finished - they get kicked out of the Athletes Village as soon as they have completed these days. Then there are the family and friends of the athletes (and support crews).

So looking to burn my expiring Krisflyer points with a trip to Vietnam in March April 2024. Thinking of flying into Hanoi (from Syd) and doing tours of the countryside up there before working our way south on the train stopping at various places on the way to HCM. Then a side trip to Siem Reap (Angkor Wat etc) and flying home out of HCM.
Have never been to this part of the world before so will be some interesting research ahead of me. Just a vague plan at this stage but need to book flights by October.

We are thinking of doing same on paid flights for Xmas this year from TSV or CNS but haven’t found anything at reasonable flight prices so far

I had forgotten the Olympics next year. Maybe we will defer operation 120 years until 2025, especially given my upcoming health issues on top of crowds and additional expenses. I wonder if it will "settle" if we go toward the end of our planning window in October/November rather than September as originally thought.

France TBA (To Be Avoided)
I will be in portugal/switzerland/Italy in July 24
Revenge travel prices for us are so high in Australia and its peak season anyway so - apart from France - 🤷‍♀️

We are booked to go to Japan in May and Singapore in June. We would like to try to get back up to Cairns and Mission Beach and a quick trip to Melbourne domestically. Over seas flights are booked but the local ones are still being figured out.

Didn't spot this thread had been created.

Right...... so far for 2024 we have Serbia, Cyprus (that'll be country 86), Canada (Toronto and surrounds). J for all of them, so starting off the year nicely. I need to think creatively to try and get another bunch of new countries in for 2024, otherwise my goal of 100 before a certain age is going to be tough!

The way the $AUD is going travel will be much more expensive. If AUD to USD goes below 60 cents, you have to think whether USA is worth it

Fortunately I have a good supply of USD which I can take with me and go cash only OS. The lower the AUD goes the better it is for us.

We went for October/November to avoid the Olympics even though our trip does not involve Paris/France. Mid Oct allows us to be in London when our granddaughter has her mid-term break, and then off to Athens ahead of our cruise. Hopefully the crowds will have thinned by then.

Have just had a win. I received a notification that my return trip YYC-YVR-DEL-MEL had a change and was able to select YYC-EWR with AC and JFK-SIN-MEL with SG. There is over 7 hours for the surface segment EWR-JFK which is more than enough & I much prefer SG to AI as well as a much shorter overall flight time.

Now all I need is for the outgoing link to open up to something better.

We're headed to the USA for about 4-5 weeks. Planning on beginning with a road trip from SFO up through CA to OR where both I and Mrs AS have friends we haven't seen in a very long time, then loop back round to SFO. From there we'll fly to CLE and spend time with family. Also planning a side-trip to the Finger Lakes in NY (haven't been there since 2010, when we got engaged, so that'll be nice).

Adding the following to my first week plans of the year: Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, British Virgin Islands, Dominican Republic and Sint Maarten. Then with Cyprus in February that will hopefully get me up to 92 countries. The race continues...... ;) Leaves me with just over a year to get to the 100 mark.
