Tried and true favourite recipes

I just put rinsed rice in a microwave safe container, cover with cold water plus about 1.5 inches then microwave for 15-17 minutes. I do sometimes use a rice cooker but that takes a while longer.

Growing up I remember my mother would cook rice using the rapid boil method. When cooked it would be strained into the red Tupperware colander. Some water would be left in the pot and that went back on the hot element with the colander on it and pot lid on top. But as she did, a big knob of butter went into it.

Never met anyone who had rice like this!

We've had a Toshiba rice cooker for around 10 years - perfect every time!

We had the red Tupperware colander up until a few months back, almost 30 years old I reckon. The bottom fell out so I contacted Tupperware and they sent me a brand new one!
They really arent kidding when they say lifetime warranty.

I never cook rice, except maybe once a year open a packet of precooked brown rice. Just don't seem to have enough room for it in my tummy, it's replaced with vegetables. And, maybe, a chaser of a really good bread.

Was it red? I thought mine was yellow.
I have a few plastic tubs but got rid of all the real Tupperware a long time ago. I kept losing lids and then the dog chewed a few and then some were mangled in the dishwasher, so out they went. I almost never freeze food and usually don't keep left overs as I try to cook only sufficient. I use the tubs when I make soups for the children to take home. I think my freezer has 2 things in it at present plus ice cubes - there are some frozen roti and some peas. Don't think there is anything else in there. We rarely eat ice cream but have that in there sometimes as well.

Lazy dinner. This morning I put some beef short ribs, corn and black beans in the slow cooker, poured bbq marinade over it and 10hrs later added mash and serve. Very yummy.

My wife doesn't have a microwave in Thailand.

The microwave in Brisbane does not get used that often. We don't have a kettle as we don't drink tea or coffee. We don't have a toaster although I might buy a few with my Qantas points. And what is that gadget above? We don't have one of those either.

My brother in law just gave me a dozen duck eggs, he has ducks at home.

Idiot question, they taste same as chicken eggs?

Edit: just boiled some for Hubbys lunch tomorrow, n difference.
