Hello everyone. Plannng trip to Ireland in 18mths, saving QFF points for ten years through shopping and they’re not worth anything anymore.
When our carer responsibilities have finished I hope to have the best advice to maximize what is now a meager count [245000].
Look forward to exploring the knowledge at AFF!

From the use of "our" assuming 2 or more passengers?
Getting classic awards (not classic plus) can be a challenge, but not always impossible. Need to be flexible with route out, route back and dates. No need to book as a return.
A cash paid flight to/from Asia and then award Asia-Ireland-Asia works for some.

A lot of reading to do on AFF. If you go an AFF social gathering or dinner may get more advice. Not everything is published on line.

Thank you Mwenenzi, I have toyed with a similar idea. Uncertain about playing the system to get the best experience. I will dive into the relevant subs!!

Exonomy class you have enough for 2 x return to Europe on Qantas. You also have ‘almost enough’ for two oneworld awards in economy, allowing you to fly round the world, or another combination of flights, with up to five stopovers.

Premium economy you could fly one way to europe and try and find a cheap economy class home, or you could fly return to asia (premium economy) and then buy a fare from asia to europe (either economy or business.

QF Oneworld classic awards do no need to be RTW. Can be out and back.

Yes! Included in the ‘or other combination of flights’. For the main cabin availability shouldn’t be an issue. But the taxes fees and charges will be considerable, perhaps more than the cost of purchasing a simple return ticket :(

…yes, the add ons…

This is proving really awkward to put together. My search results provide just two airlines to use, Qatar or AA. I find the oneworld sub difficult to navigate with so many side conversations. The valuable information is lost to me. ☹️☹️
I will revisit in the new year I think.
