Thought I would dig up an old thread rather than starting a new one but as a Tripcase user I got the email talking about end of life for the Tripcase App from Sabre, although I don't use the App and I use the web version myself I am wondering if many Tripcase App users will be looking at alternatives now and indeed how long the web site will be supported.

I find it intruiging that several years ago every company was going towards the App and nagging users everywhere to install their App and clutter up our phones with numerous Apps that we occasionally use, and that trend is seemingly reversed in this case with it seemingly beyond the capability of Tripcase to run a website and an App as resources are limited. Although from my brief amount of research online it might be that Sabre might have initiated some change in its own backend that either locks out third parties or makes their life difficult? Or they have made a concious decision to delete all their existing competative advantage and data from owning Tripcase? Either way a pretty stupid and short-sighted corporate decision.

Even though I didn't use the App I found the Tripcase website and notifications very stable and reliable, am I assuming the only real reliable grown-up alternative is Tripit and Kyak?

Mentioned here.

I use the app all the time! I haven’t been to the website for years but will see what it can do for me….

I have not used the App at all, but I do use the website, at the moment I am still getting flight reminders and change notifications by email for future bookings. Because its Sabre it cannot see any Qantas flight bookings unless you manually enter the flight dates and details and then its fine. Has consistently worked for me with QF VA ZL and JQ flights for the last few years and the flight notifications for changes and delays have often been faster than the notification from the airlines themselves, although the Qantas app has got a lot better, and recently Rex have dome something new in their back-end that has broken their previously good track record in timely flight change notifications to TripCase.

The app supports QF (and other Amadeus) bookings without intervention. It will be missed…

Oh OK fair enough - for some reason my Amadeus bookings on Qantas never naturally migrated/appeared into the Tripcase web site (once booked on the Qantas website with a PNR created), maybe that was just a me thing rather than a widespread issue. I haven't installed the Tripcase App myself so maybe that was one of the advantages of having the TipCase App rather than using the web site?

I came here to see other’s reactions to the email notification. My va flights have always appeared automatically. I just added some flights manually for an upcoming trip and I always appreciate the notifications - often arrive earlier than the airline notice, as others have noted.

Glad to read the clarification here that it’s just the app being retired. I did read the email thinking it was the whole Trip Case service.

That’s how I got onto TripCase - Corp travel on VA would include a link to the website but then started using the app. The seatmap for VA flights was usually ok - no so for non/Sabre bookings but all other functions generally worked well.

Is the that certain?

This part of the email seemed ominous?

“Sabre will delete all TripCase-related trip and traveler data as part of the decommissioning process”

I assumed the app still used the same backend?

Given how strongly the messaging is worded, I took it to mean that the entire service, including the web app (website) will be shut down. Quite unfortunate. I wouldn't be surprised if CMT also went away altogether in the near future.

I’ve stopped using CMT entirely. Useless now.

It seems the Tripcase App is being discontinued. I received an email recently and this message shows when logging in.

What are recommendations for an alternative?

You reminded me to check out the website. I’ve not been there for years. It looks like it’s hanging around - for now. So there’s always that option.

I’m not aware of any free replacements / alternatives. Paid TripItPro is one option.

I am sad to see Trip Case go. My bookings are through SABRE with an Air NZ associated TA, but I always received QF notifications on my phone.

I built an exporter that I'm trying to share with people who may find use of it in light of this news Luke Zilioli | TripCase Data Export Utility
Fortunately when I email bookings to TripCase, I use the same email to send the details to TripIt (free). I use the later to construct and record a trip but TripCase provided the realtime information for free!

All my historical trips (and current upcoming) trips are still there on the website. I assume I’ll still get the emails for cancellations, delays and gate changes after 01 April. I’ll find out come mid April during my first trip after the app gets fried.

For some reason my trips are loaded onto Trip Case by my TA.

Because your email is linked but you can add multiple email addresses to one account ie work and personal. You can track both with one login.

Thanks, but not any more.

I loved the app! I used it for all my trips. I also organise small group trips to southern and east Africa and the app was such an easy way to keep track of everyone's flights. I'll miss it. Now I need to find a good alternative.
