Triple status credits on Virgin Australia

What promo code worked? I thought I read also that they have blackouts over June / July? I couldn’t get anything to work (including NRMA portal…) 😔

Promo code JKZ34 is exactly the same as booking through the NRMA portal.

The exact blackout period is 21 June 2024 - 22 July 2024. Matt booked outside the blackout dates.

Okay I think I've cracked it. I need 540 SCs before mid August (am Gold until Feb).
Booked SYD-TSV rtn which gives me 180 SCs twice a month apart (360 SCs).
Just need to book SYD-BNE one way in J for 165 SCs ($380) and a Y back for 45 SCs which will take me to 570 SCs in total.
I had to do the TSV trips anyway. I do have to go to BNE some time so it might as well be in the window. The only 'indulgence' is the J fare but that will pay off anyway with WP status.

Yeah, thought that might be the case. I was looking mid July. June is more expensive and 23 July I leave the country for 2 mths…🙄

So i need 400 SC to maintain gold. My review date is 28 Feb 2025, with no planned flights in the coming year.

Ive just had a newborn, i understand i can ask for a 6month pause - and when the pause ends, the 12month review period restarts?

So in theory, i should let Virgin know about the child early Janauary 2025, pause of 6 months, then have another 12 months to obtain gold after the pause ends? Does this sound correct?

I can answer this, I've just been through the Status Hold process with both VA and QF.

I had VA Plat through the Business Flyer match last year. I was going to drop to Gold in late March, and called to request the extension in mid March shortly after my daughter was born.

My status went on hold immediately when I called - no documentation required for first request. I was told that once my status resumes, I will have another 12 months of Platinum to hit the 800 SC retain target. I will actually be doing some personal travel during the 6 month hold period and have no idea whether these SC will carry over once my status is unpaused.

I don't know how late you can request the hold, but with the dates you've mentioned, your strategy sounds good.

Happy to chat through the QFF process also if you have any questions - PM me.

You will have until your "Review Date" (which should be 365 days) to requalify WP.

e.g. If you qualify WP on July 31st 2024, then you will have WP until you hit your "Review Date"- which would be either July 31 or August 1 2025. I am not precisely sure.

If you do not requalify, then after your "review" ends, you would soft land to SG.
So this means, if I qualify for WP on 31JUL24 and do not fly enough to retain WP by, say 31JUL25 or 01AUG25, I will soft land to SG.

Hurrah. Glad I looked at AFF this week to see the triple SCs. Had 3 airfares to book Perth- Darwin return. Made me get on and do it. Firstly of course getting into Velocity and pressing the button to qualify.
Hate the direct flight Per/Dwn return with only cattle class seats, but in July on Wednesdays you can go via Adelaide in Biz grateful for small mercies. 180SC's x3 sorts out me and him indoors to keep gold for another year plus some.
Couldn't maintain platinum when Virgin started this economy class only rubbish.
Also very inconvenient for cancellation as you loose money too, and no Biz lounge in Darwin. (the Adelaide one is very nice).

This code worked for me for a booking made for end of July

That is a good rate. I'm getting $2.30 per SC or so when I look at J.

I was in same situation I hold my Platinum Status last year in May as my son was born in Dec 22 called Velocity & Status was put on hold without any docs I believe when you are asking hold for first time no Docs required for Velocity but Qantas Doctor certificate & Employer certificate needed & Qantas process is longer than Velocity.
During 6 months status hold/Pause I travelled got status credit - after hold status that I earned in paused period were rolled back to new period which was good
My 2nd child is due in September & I think I can not ask for status hold as it can only be asked once in 2 years that is the reason I am taking advantage of this 3* Status Credit offer to retain Platinum

Yes but I will get 110 Status credit as it shows on Virgin Website when booking Business class fare - I will call & re-confirm it but I am assuming that they will honor 110 Status credit

That’s good if they do but I thought they had closed that loophole. I don’t fly that route because of it
