The best bit about the Australian cricket team? ....I have now cancelled my Foxtel subscription (after 20 years) and am saving $$$! :)

I wish I had one! I'd be watching instead of tragically just watching the scores on espcricinfo!

And I cancelled my Adelaide oval membership in response to this and saving money on that as well

No that they knew Warner was a little (big) cough and they made him vice captain because he wouldn't stay in line if they didn't. They should have handled his behaviour earlier. When other teams call us cheats then I don't feel that I can argue with them and don't want to be associated with that sort of culture.

I do agree Warner should have been reigned in long ago, but I think the whole culture was there long before him being VC. Lehman and the CA ilk were a big part of the problem as well, yet only Lehman fell on his sword.

Now, we've got the COO as the new CEO and it's just 'business as usual'. To be honest, the announcement last week is probably one of the biggest things out of this whole saga that has p!ssed me off the most.

Agree with that and was thinking about all this the other day. I think Smith was a very weak captain and Lehman turned a blind eye while they were getting results. This is the kind of behavior I don’t like when it gets referred to as ‘boys behaving badly’.

I really like Justin Langer but he’s been handed a poisoned chalice. Plus, their culture hasn’t really changed all that much over the years anyway but these days cricketers get paid huge salaries and it’s their full time job. Back in the ‘80s the pay was dreadful and you had to have another full time job that allowed lots of leave in order to play cricket.

The new COO is actually held in high regard by many within cricketing circles, MrP included.

How does that make his selection any more credible though? Especially when the board banged on about an external review of all CA culture, they then go and pick the incumbent COO who's whole tenure within the organisation has been under the current CEO.

There's some great minds within the state organisations who haven't been influenced by current CA administration, but were completely overlooked As this really was nothing but a captains pick by the chair of the board and it absolutely flies in the face of CA's supposed cultural change they have been harping on about - all it says is "more of the same please".

Just maybe he has the skills and courage to take on the job. Are you referring to state cricket associations? Not sure I can agree with you there.

That's fine, that's why we have forums to debate these things. The 2 other candidates in 'the running' which were part of state organisations & mentioned to the press, were Christina Matthews & John Warn (the other, John Harnden, would have been an even more contentious decision coming from the current board).

Christina Matthews has done an incredible job in her tenure as CEO of WACA. That state has seen a complete turnaround in both their on field performances and financial situation under her tenure, but supposedly cut due to no corporate experience......

John Warn, well I don't really need to rehash his resume, but it is certainly impressive.

Both very well versed in running a large sporting organisation and do not come with cultural baggage of serving under the current CA administration, yet this was a captains pick by Peever who wants more of the same and none of the other Board members have the backbone to challenge him and instigate necessary change.
