Turkish Airlines Approved for More Flights into Australia

I'm now thinking Bonza will be their domestic partner - they'd make a good match.

were booked RTW tix with Turkish airlines for Aug 24 and the Bris-Sing segment is on qantas - no Turkish planes in or out expected even then.
So these additional Turkish flights are just a qantas grab and stitched Qatar up

Turkish haven’t received all the relevant approvals yet so of course anything you book now won’t be on Turkish in or out of Australia.

Turkish Airlines to launch flights to Australia in March

Turkish Airlines confirmed to start IST - SIN - MEL flights three times weekly from March 16.
Fantastic! it’s going to be tough to choose between TK and QR but QR and Qsuites are probably going to come through until TK fully rolls out its new 'Crystal' business class.

But I might have to do a Melbourne to Singapore run just to try them out in the meantime 🙂

I think even then it might be hard to choose TK for most of the routes we would do as they use the Euro J on many of their Euro routes whereas you can get a QR wide body to most European places I want to go. They do have a very good product though and for some destinations I’d absolutely choose TK

True, although I still loved my short haul IST-KIV-IST recently 🙂

787-9 operating initially. Switches to A350-900 from April 2nd.
Effective 07APR24 – 04OCT24.

TK169 MEL2120 – 0250+1SIN0430+1 – 1040+1IST 359 136

I'm already seeing a bit of award availability on MEL-IST, including in J ;)
But interestingly there doesn't seem to be availability after late October (whereas there's plenty of availability on Turkish Airlines' other routes even as late as January 2025). It looks like they're anticipating a change in the schedule over the (northern) winter?

I'm excited about this. The Turkish Airlines lounge in Istanbul is the only lounge I've ever visited where I genuinely wished I had more time there. And being able to sip Turkish coffee at 40,000 feet is sublime!

Website is a bit of a mess but they do appear to be selling just the MEL-SIN flight
Yep with a shocking flight time and price, all one way MEL-SIN flights have been loaded at $1820 which for that price you can get SQ PE or ScootPlus. Return MEL-SIN flights loaded at $3137. To be fair they are Full fare M bucket economy tickets (still Y and B is higher).

My guess is that either the MEL-SIN prices will level out at a reasonable level in the coming weeks, or TK has priced them deliberately high because they want to reserve most of the seats for passengers flying all the way through to IST (and beyond).

Also possibly set as placeholder for now before their marketing and revenue team really work out what they want.
