TV series discussion {'ware Spoiler Alert}

Almost through the first season of "Those About to Die" (streaming on Prime Video). It's no Game of Thrones, but it certainly brings the political intrigue, backstabbing, brutality, debauchery and opulence that you expect from ancient Rome. Great series to check out if you want to get into the spirit of things ahead of the upcoming Gladiator sequel.

When we see a dud it's the ten minute rule. If it hasn't improved or grabbed us, we pull the pin, and think - as in this case - Antony Hopkins must have had an alimony payment due, only in it for the money

Finished watching "Sugar" (Apple TV+) today. I'm a fan of good noir fiction and this show had been on my watch list for a while.

Colin Farrell plays John Sugar, an American private investigator on the heels of the mysterious disappearance of Olivia Siegel, the beloved granddaughter of a legendary Hollywood producer, Jonathan Siegel. As Sugar tries to determine what happened to Olivia, he will also unearth Siegel family secrets; some very recent, others long-buried.

Some great performances and beautifully shot in a modern noir style. Without giving anything away, there is a significant plot twist that has proven to be quite divisive. I can understand why some aren't happy with it, but it didn't bother me overly and it has created a story arc to fuel the series into a second season.

I know my hearing isn't the best but Colin Farrell is one actor I can't decipher. Thank goodness for subtitles

Just finished watching Criminal Record (Apple TV+) this evening. Have to say I really enjoyed this one! Typical high caliber, slow burn British crime series that keeps you thinking and trying to work out the inevitable twist. Great performances from Peter Capaldi and Cush Jumbo.

Peter Capaldi gave a great performance.

The brilliant sequel to that UK financial industry drama Devils is back on SBS.
One good but two is brilliant as it is set in 2016 before Brexit/Trump and how all that resonated through the markets. Love dramas that incorporate real footage and events as backdrop.
Worth watching
Thanks. I enjoyed Series 1, so will add this to my list. I think I saw it pop up on SBS on Demand and assumed it was just Series 1 again.

Last night’s episode on Chambrod was excellent.

Ancient Superstructures streaming now on SBS On Demand

Finally finished watching "Bloodline" (Netflix). Have started/stopped watching this several times now for various reasons, but just got to the end of the show last night. On the whole, really enjoyed the series, however I do think that it was rushed to a conclusion in the 3rd season (given Netflix chose to discontinue the show). Felt like there were so many more story arcs that could be explored, but simply no time for the show's writers to make the most of it.

Agree
Watched this peri-C—id and it could have ended after Series 2 I thought. S3 was almost a different show

Just watching the last Grand Tour on Prime.

Ps: maybe it’s the last GT since Clarkson’s stomach won’t fit into sports cars in the future.:)
