Two for one 2FOR1 flights on the Flyer Visa Credit Card when both pax hold CCs

After my latest hissy fit this morning just got a call back from clearly a different team of people.

The balance of free flights has now been corrected!

Sorry BBB they must've forgotten about you because they thanked me for bringing this quirk to their attention and said they weren't previously aware of it! :rolleyes:

I strongly suspect that all they did was remove the velocity number from the free flight companion on the booking...I was told to retro claim only.

Creditted 2k points for my troubles.

:oops:...um, Adam...Mark maybe. Sorry! He made a point of saying twice he was in the Sydney team - clearly not the same people you get by default on the phone. He was English...ask for the English guy!
 
Does anyone know if this issue has been resolved? My +1 and I both have the Virgin Flyer credit card. I booked a return flight Syd-Per using the 2 for 1 offer but held off giving the operator my+1s DJ frequent flyer number less we strike the problem described above. Can I go online now to add her DJ FF number to the booking or will I risk have 2 "2 for1" flights removed from her account? Do I really need to do a retro credit for her flight to get her SCs and points??
 
I can't answer as to whether it has been fixed as I haven't tried it since Virgin told me not to add a Velocity number for the 2nd card holder.

What I can tell you is that I flew a couple of weekends ago and the check in agent added in the Velocity number without telling me she was doing it - I had presented the silver card in order to use the included baggage allowance. In that case my sole remaining free flight was not stolen and the points credited properly - so it seems this is a safe way to do it. It is a pain though...I ended up in a long drawn out discussion with a check in agent at ADL who just couldn't seem to cope with the scenario that the system said I had 0kg checked bags but I handed over my silver card to check a bag.

Meanwhile Virgin are not meeting their own 7 day SLA for crediting other retro claim flights...I just keep resubmitting the claim and never hear anything! I will call eventually...
 
Rezzing this thread - the problem is well and truly back with a vengeance post Sabre. I currently have "-1" available 2FOR1CC flights where I should have 1 owing to me. The two flights that I took in Jan booked by my mother on her Flyer Visa has incorrectly taken the flights from my card as well as hers.


Back to the drawing board. Pretty unimpressed .This will take a sod of a long time to clear up (if things go as they did last time I had to request this issue be corrected).

cough! I completely forgot about this issue! I booked a 2-4-1 for me and my partner the other week, both of us Flyer card holders and sure enough we have both been deducted! Arrgggghhhhhh!!!

I would have forgotten too. I thought it was resolved!

Luckily, our 241s have been used with our kids as the extra so not an issue for us....thank heavens! I sympatise BBB and thank you for letting us know.

I don't have the will to call up about this! I've sent an email to gold@velocity with screenshots showing them both companion fight balances being depleted by the same reservation. I've told them I do not want to explain this situation over and over and over again like last time! Wish me luck! :-|

Just as an update...the email route is getting me nowhere fast!

I received a reply on 11th March advising me of a resolution within 5 business days or a promise of an update if more time needed. Of course, neither came.

I responded to that email and was then told (19 March) it was escalated to the 'Partners Manager'...and have heard nothing since.
 
I booked a flexi two for one and intentionally didn't give them my partners velocity number because of this issue.

We then upgraded the flights to business using upgrade credits, and at that point they added the velocity number in to the booking.

Guess what? It deducted the two for one credits from the other account, even though the velocity number was added after the upgrade (ie. flight change) was processed.

I sent an email to [email protected] which they replied to and said they couldn't help so had forwarded it to reservations. That was 9 days ago and I have not received a reply. They said it can take 21 days, but I find that pretty poor when this is a common issue and should be easy for them to fix quickly.
 
The plot thickens for me. The reservation that has been deducted from both my and my partner's complimentary flight balance has now been deducted from mine a further 2 times leaving me with a balance of -2 complimentary flights instead of 2!
 
Pretty poor thay this issue hasn't been fixed after all this time.

I think they did fix it, then broke it again with Sabre.

I really think this is appalling that it happens at all but inconceivable that they can't fix it immediately, as it does negatively impact peoples right to use their benefits. How can bcworld go and book more entitled 241 flights when the account shows -2?

I haven't been caught out by this, but only because of sheer dumb luck, not good management!
 
I got fed up of the email tennis and called Velocity today. Got them to remove the Velocity number for the second card holder which, as I expected, immediately fixed their comp flight balance. Pity they couldn't have done it when I asked them to in my last email.

It was all fairly genial until the gold velocity agent insisted to me that this was not a long standing issue...I told him about this thread from Feb 2012!

I am of course still left with the problem of having been deducted 3 times for the same reservation & my negative balance. I was assured that any reservation agent seeing that would realise I still legitimately had a positive balance but somehow I'm not so sure!

When the 241 balances were off in no mans land, a VR lady asked me to hold while she checked my balances with Virgin Money, so if that was truth, VM must hold balances as well. Nothing to suggest they're not just updated from VR incorrect tallies though.

I've logged in a few times to my VFF account and when I click on the 'more details' next to the Virgin Credit Card tab in My Benefits it then takes me to a summary of My Benefits showing the number of Lounge passes I have left etc, but in this second 'My Benefits' page the reference to the Virgin Credit Card is no longer visible.

Has anyone else had their balance just disappear? I want to contact Virgin to get them to reset my balance to zero but it looks as though I don't have a balance at all!

If you do it repeatedly sometimes it will come up...other times it's absent...happens to me too. My theory is the process to get the credit card info times out & so the page displays without it. Because you have so many reservations there maybe it times out every time...whereas mine is more hit n miss.

I've tried it about 12 separate times this week and there's no reference to the Credit Card at all on the list on the My Benefits page, let alone a balance.

I wonder if the call centre will be able to see it if I cant.
