Unable to link Complimentary lounge Invitation

I'm trying to link a complimentary invitation to a flight for a family member. The link is there, all prepared for linkage, but when I click it opens the Qantas Club page.

It's for Sydney QC tomorrow, so wondering if they're blocking complementaries due to long weekend. If that's the case I shall admit defeat, but currently I keep on trying...
it does have to be 24 hours before a flight but it may be the long weekend as well or it could be Qantas IT 🤷‍♀️

Tx, @VPS. I started well before the 24hrs and continued to the deadline, with no result. Then I tried for the return flight on Sunday, same result. I'm going to "blame" the long weekend, although I'm currently experiencing a separate and unrelated failure which is definitely Qantas IT.

Try an incognito window, i was getting this issue with linking one for Mrs Excel a few weeks back

I haven't had issues doing it inside the 24 hour period in the past

@BriarFlyer I have limited experience in linking as I do not need them but have done it for my parents. From memory I had to transfer the passes to their accounts and then log into their account to link. Also as the flights are tomorrow this may also be an issue as they have to be linked greater than 24 hours from the scheduled flight time.

@exceladdict I can't work out how to do this incognito. I thought the method was as per @Matt_01 : I "gifted" the pass to my family member, then logged into her account, found the flight, and clicked on the active link. It takes me to the Qantas Club page. I've tried another flight on Sunday, same deal.

I was super-keen to this as my SIL has had a "less than ideal" start to her trip home. Flew from Canada to LAX to connect with QF12 last night. Sat in LAX gate for 8+ hrs before being finally sent to a hotel. I think this was around 5am. Her connecting flight in Sydney was rebooked with a 6hr layover so I thought the lounge pass might help. Sadly, I've failed but would like to work this out for future reference.

I think there is a problem with the Qantas webpage if it is taking you to the QC page. The system should just spin for a while and then either link the pass or give an error message.

The rules say you must link 24 hours before the flight but I don’t think that the system is coded for that rule.

This sounds the same as the error I was getting trying to do a pass for Mrs excel recently. The first time it would lag out, then the second times take me to the QC page.

If I recall correctly two methods worked.
1: right clicking the "link this invitation" link and choosing "open in new incognito window". 2: starting the process by logging in to the qf website in a new chrome incognito window (in Mrs excels account) and then following through the process.

Hopefully one of those two helps/works for you .

Yes, pre covid would do it in the security line at Perth International waiting to jump on the JQ flight to Bali, not wanting to use it if we didn't have enough time. The ones I linked for Mrs excel in may were probably under 24h if I recall correctly too, because when I tried to link them 48h out I got all the errors that are described above.

Success!!!

Data point: the Friday flight within 24hrs succeeded but the Sunday one outside 24hrs, the link now works but then I get an error message. But Friday was the important one.

Edit to add: Tried a different flight/date and was able to link successfully so I'm suspecting that Sunday is blocked for comp invites (long weekend?)

Thank you for the additional options to try, @exceladdict. Really appreciated.

Has anyone been able to transfer a lounge pass in the last day or so?
Seems yet another thing on the QF website has broken.
I've tried from mine and my partner's account and neither are working.

Have Qantas Club passes been suspended for July 2022 school holiday period? I can't link my complimentary passes to my flight tomorrow and also can't transfer passes to other FF members. I have 4 current lounge passes. Thanks T

Yes there was an article in this earlier this week. However, yesterday when we flew PER-SYD with our family on a different flight to ourselves, the QF Lounge passes we shared with them did not open, and when they showed the people at the gate a screenshot of the pass, they were still denied. Poor form by QF again.

Thanks for your reply! I couldn't find recent articles - I'll have to get better at searching on this site.

Do you have a link for the article?

If it's just the site erroring out, try doing it in a chrome incognito window. That worked for me when encountering errors a month ago

The website has the disclaimer

We may suspend the use of Complimentary Lounge Invitations during peak travel periods such as school holidays. During these periods, you'll be unable to link the invitation to a booking and passes will not be accepted at the lounge.

Given the number of people travelling I would expect that they have been suspended. I had read of a family who were able to link the passes but then were denied entry. That is pretty poor as the system should not have allowed it in the first place.

Anyone having issues trying to cancel a linked invitation? I want to cancel a complimentary pass and use it later in the year but it says 'confirm' once you select 'cancel' and you can't do anything. Tried igcognito mode and same outcome.
