I was approved for a Velocity Business card two weeks ago, on the 150k points + $250 flight credit (VA Business Flyer acct) after $5000 spend offer. This was superseded by a lesser offer of 120k points, no flight credit, after $3000 spend, effective 7 Nov.
Wanting to get the bonuses out of the way ASAP, I went on the best spending spree I could in the first three days of the card being active. As I contemplated what further spend I could generate to get to the $5k qualifying threshold, I logged into my account this morning and saw that the correct 150k points had already been awarded at the new-offer $3k spend point rather than the old higher spend! Yay. But then of course it crossed my mind that it's not clear whether that event also triggers the processing of the $250 flight credit at VA's end (you have to wait "up to 30 days" for it to appear).
I went on live chat and had one of those interminably little-progress-and-vague-recital chats until the stupid system timed out (cos a chat will only ever last as long as the website login timeout, right?!). When I realised the agent wasn't responding cos the site had timed out, rather than because he/she was no longer interested, I logged back in, ended up with a different agent, and they actually claimed to check the details of my account and say that the threshold had been met in all regards. Should I believe them? No idea if anyone else on AFF has had similar fortune with Amex, but thought it worth asking...
