United Airlines new Virgin Australia/Velocity Partner

Which dates have you seen those on, if you don’t mind me asking? I’ve tried doing some random searches on various dates throughout May, but can only find Y reward, every date (and flights where it states reward seats) says J reward unavailable?
7th May to 11th May for a start.
Then following weeks too.
Can you see them or so least below one, it's for for adults.

A heap of dates in May, even some in June n July. October a sprinkle.
The close-in availability is fairly standard for United. MEL-SFO definitely the best route for it at the moment. Also a bit on BNE-SFO & SYD-SFO. Less on the LAX routes.

It is good if you're flexible. There's actually 9+ seats available many dates.

Here's MEL-SFO availability until mid July:

Ah yes, I can see them for that date/flight , I hadn’t checked that date. Came across one other later in the month. Good to know there’s at least some availability about.

Hi levelnine, what program are you using to get those results above? That's a great snapshot of availability.

Apologies if this has been asked before.

I'm looking to book a UA itinerary and accumulate points / SCs to my VA Velocity account. However, some of the segments are code-shares not operated by UA.

How do you handle that? I also have a TK *A account which I could use for the code share legs but I'm not sure how to enter different frequent flyer numbers by segment.

I could just accumulate the entire itinerary to my TK account but I like the idea of a few extra VA SCs.

TIA.

Who is operating them? Are they one of UA's subsidiaries?

No. SN with a UA flight number. I suspect I wouldn't earn VA SCs but it would be nice to not lose the points all together.
If you aren't able to update online for the SQ segment, you can try the airport. If nothing else, the Star Gold will get you into the lounge even if the VA number stays on the ticket.

I have a combination of UA and LH flights coming up. I entered my VA number for United as I prefer the SCs but was able to update the Lufthansa reservation on their website with just my Star Gold number and both systems show the separate numbers.

We'll see if it sticks at check-in. Make sure you double check boarding passes beforehand though so you can choose the one you prefer if forced to pick one.

Hi all

Does anyone have experience with UA’s reuse of flight numbers on the same day and status credit posting?

I am travelling on the flights below, they are both UA406 but not sold as a non-stop like QF1 SYD-LHR or QF1 SYD-SIN-LHR but I have a feeling VA will treat it as a single flight because of the same flight number.

Sadly there were direct flights available that I didn’t choose because of the SCs … but I didn’t notice the flight numbers.

Interestingly its not even the same plane. A321 to LAX and B753 to DEN.

Question re VA/UA..
My son is travelling VA MEL-SYD then UA SYD-SFO-IAH-BOG. All on one ticket.
Will he be able to get all BPs and check his bags through from MEL-BOG? He only has two hours to do Dom-Int at SYD so if his bags are checked through it should be doable. If not, it’s pretty tight to get bags, transfer, do immigration and then get to the UA flight in that time.

If all on one ticket then bags will be checked for the full trip however he'll need to pick them up in SFO and then recheck for the SFO-IAH-BOG legs.
DOM-INT transit in SYD, best bet is to walk downstairs, take the train to International rather than wait for the transit bus.

That's a long journey with a lot of connections! I'm not 100% sure but I think I've found from personal experience that if any of the legs are more than 24 hours from the check in for the first leg, you have to get the boarding passes later for those.
