Upcoming Qantas Frequent Flyer Changes

It looks likely that P1 is still scheduled for Q4.

I wonder if Red Roo can comment on the cut off date for earning qualification - i.e. if someones membership year ends September 30, and the programme starts Q4 (1st Oct) would a WP that had in excess of the qualifying SC's up to end Sept, have to start again in accumulating points before a status hike? This would seem unfair to loyal WP's, equally there must be some cut off point.

I would think QF will need to do an 'out of cycle' status assessment on the day WP1 comes into being. For example, if WP1 was to start on 1 Jan 2012, your status credits for the calendar year 2011 would counted towards qualification, regardless when your normal year ends.

Otherwise, if your normal status year starts say one month before the introduction of WP1, you may have to wait a whole year to qualify even if you earned the full 3600 SC in the previous status year.

So how is Qantas going to get back all the defectors who went to Virgin on Status Match.
I went from Platinum Qantas to Platinum Virgin when they Killed the Gold Coast lounge and Jetstar shafted the commuters on points and status.
Whatever of monday ,tues and weds, redeyes I take I see the same people, in the Virgin line that were all in the Qantas line a couple of years ago.
New Virgin Lounge is also going to be a big loyalty factor.
This year I wont even make gold on Qantas ,so why would i change back without the priveliges?

Hello Red Roo

Thank you for this news.
I would like to share something with you : i live in New Caledonia with a company in Sydney and another one in Hong Kong and i usually check the price of the tickets from NOU to HK but since 2 months when i request a departure from NOU to HK (and only to this destination) there is an error on the system telling me the Qantas website is experiencing problems and if i need something urgently to call 13 13 13. I called the Qantas customer service and explained it, as it was not fixed i sent email and email but it's still the same now. Can you check by your side ?

Thank you

Good luck find the advertised fares to LAX.

yeah wow! I see what you mean. I looked last night (using the 'flexible with dates' option) and it was pretty much available every day. Now it's almost entirely gone!! (can still find some of the return legs at that ~$2400 though)
