I never received the email but have upgrade on two flights - one was showing U1, the other I picked as showing U4 before booking. Now they show U0 and U3 respectively.

Having secured the upgrade to J (ie: 8000 points), could you then change, from the discount economy sale fare, to a more expensive economy fare so as to secure J SC's ?

Haven't received the email but I've put in for an upgrade to PE for MEL-LAX (747). Should I use the extra points and go Business?

Do you want to chance an op up?

For example I am on qf29 on a Y (full econmy) am WP, it would be fair to conclude that I would be second in line (type) for an op up.

Need to look at E F as well to see how seats are selling.

Do you have further details, we can assess. It is serftys special skill.

Very little difference in price between a Y fare and a flex fare and you get double SC and upgrade points required is half, so good value.

You will get the SC for the fare class you have booked, having an upgrade to J will still get economy status credits

It's discount economy fare. There are:
9 seats in First
13 seats in Business
15 seats in PE
28 seats in Y

What are my chances of an upgrade without applying for it? And do I lose 5000 points if I cancel the request for an upgrade? I didn't get the email so don't know the T&C for this promotion.

If the request hasn't been confirmed and no points deducted (which would be the case), then you will not lose points cancelling an upgrade request.

If I wanted to try out business using this promotion, what would be my best flight / aircraft to do so?
1. SYD-BNE on 767-300
2. SYD-MEL on 767-300
3. MEL-HBA on 737-800

Depends on where you want go primarily.

You want dreamtime 767 1-2-2 seating and go for 1a should be the goal.

I would say they have int duties back at present but an insider or senior member would be able to confirm

All the flights are booked. I've never flown domestic business so thought for 8000 points I might give it a go to upgrade a $101 red e-deal fare to business.

What I want to know is which aircraft is likely to have the 'nicest' or most modern business class.

If you tell us what the 763 flights are one of us will look it up on EF and let you know Dreamtime vs. Millennium seating. Newest and nicest don't always go together but on the wide bodies you'll at least be in a separate cabin of sorts.

Otherwise, is any of them a scheduled meal service? They're all pretty short sectors but if you're wanting to 'try' out the QF J product then the food is a pretty big part of that IMO.

Just had my upgrade to J clear on an O class fare SFO-SYD. 4K allocated to me automatically on a 4 class 744. I could have hoped for an opup, but bugger it. Ill take the old F seat for some points whilst they're still going!

Thanks Joshua.
1. SYD-BNE on 767-300 - QF508
2. SYD-MEL on 767-300 - QF405
3. MEL-HBA on 737-800 - QF1011

How do I tell if they are scheduled meal services? I can't see anything in "My Bookings" stating whether there is a meal or not.

The two 763 services have a breakfast service. If you click the flight numbers in your booking page it should come up with service information such as times, aircraft & meal service.

Not much between them, so it might be coming down to your personal preference.

I also received the offer after booking BNE-SYD in the 90 hour sale. I'm not taking the upgrade, as it would take points for what is a short flight.

So should I do 767-300 over 737-800?
