Have requested upgrade from O class to business flying SYD-HKG on Tuesday. Have a pretty gold card and requested the upgrade immediately the email advising upgrades were possible. Just checked my booking online only to be told -
Note: Your upgrade from Sydney to Hong Kong has been declined.

Bummer.

As has been reported earlier in the thread, ring the call centre to lodge your upgrade request.

Don't worry, this is part of normal processing - see my post here:
"Upgrade Declined" is normal; It is part of the standard processing.

Look your booking up at www.checkmytrip.com; you should see the segment entry for the original booked class. As well, a waitlisted <upgrade> class segment for the same flight will show.

If your upgrade comes through, this will become confirmed and the segment entry with the original booked class will disappear. At which point in time www.qantas.com.au/yourbooking will show as confirmed.

It appears that Qantas.com is fudged so that when a waitlisted <Upgrade Class> segment and a confirmed lower class original segment exist on the same PNR for the same flight it will show online as "Declined".

If the upgrade does not come through, the waitlisted <Upgrade Class> record will stay there until the PNR is completed ... and the upgrade for that segment will always show declined ...

Given QF127 for Tuesday is showing:
RC F4 A4 J5 C5 D4 I3 W6 T5 B0 H0 K0 M0 L0 VC SC NC QC OC XC E0 I would say as a SG your chances are 50%.

(IF F/J were higher numbers then your upgrade would be a shoe-in).

Just checked my booking on the QF site and immediately noticed I was down 40 000 points - yay!

Note: Your upgrade from Sydney to Hong Kong has been confirmed.

So happy, and thanks so much Serfty for your reply and time. Much appreciated.

Now to sweat on the upgrade on the way home....
