UpgradeMe pricing and success

How does everyone check seat availability? Do you just wait until check-ins open or is there a way to do it ahead of time?
A little trick is to dummy a booking for say, 6 pax and see whether J is still available or not. As the J cabin is only 8, if there's less than 6 available it will say that Business is unavailable. Adjust and re-run the booking as needed.

Upgraded last night for this mornings flight to BNE - $85 min bid - mate also upgraded for $90 on the same flight. 4 seats available when I checked a week ago so it seemed a reasonable possibility.

Bid min on SYD to PER for $275. Processed at 24 hours out, seat map showed one other person in J. Only 3 people in the cabin when flight taken. Previous flight 2 hours prior had full business cabin according to check in staff.

Never cough/um/e here - so you were one of the three I hope?

Am I correct in thinking if there are 2 pax on a booking and I submit a upgrade bid, if successful, it will it be for both pax? They won't choose 1 and not the other?

I upgrade on the SYD-PER sector the other night on the737 Max. It was 285 dollars and to be honest I'm not actually sure it was even worth that...,😞🤭

Yeah I declined to put in a bid in on a similar flight with a min bid of $285 - maybe if they gave out status credits...

5ish hours in row 6 was not that fun though....

I agree. Pop on the additional service credits then maybe. BA provide the additional Avios on upgrades and often you get upgrades cheap without having to bid.

OT, BA have mangled that and upgrade SCs aren’t coming thru to QFF anymore…😔

My UpgradeMe for my wife and I came through 24 hours prior to our ADL/MEL flight tomorrow. Bid of $80 each was accepted.
I know it's only a short flight but it's our first kid free getaway so wanted to surprise my wife with a great start to the getaway. Can't wait :D
It’s actually good value for non-status PAX. Instead of paying $60 ea just for Lounge access, you get Lounge, Priority Boarding, J seat (obviously) and food/drinks etc.

I paid more than that yesterday, MEL-SYD on the last leg of a SR. Having flown down from OOL in whY, it’s was a nice respite for the trip home (and I didn’t need to cook dinner when I got there).

Let’s say there are only two seats available, do you think a bid for two seats at minimum would have a higher chance than a bid for one seat at a higher price?
