Urgent Washing Machine Advice

I'm only going to say two things:

1. Investigate the service life of front loaders vs top loaders (hint: it's rubbish)
2. Shop at applianceonline.com.au. Not only are they cheap and fast delivery, but you can get bonus VA points of you go through the virgin shopping portal :) wish I'd known that when I bought a $1200 fridge with them :(

It's based on the front loader I purchased and then took to the tip 2 years later. Called out the service guy when it failed and he said "they all do that after about 2 years, the motors just aren't up to the task". Cost to repair was almost as much as the purchase price. Went back to a top loader which has so far lasted me 8 years.
We have a F & P front loader that is at least 6 years old and going strong.

That should balance the sample off in the other directions little.

My top loader F & P is 12 years old, has moved 6 times and cost $200 for a new brain about 3 years ago. Still going strong. Not sure how that fits current data.

my partner wanted a front loader a few weeks ago so I just went and bought it (saved an entire weekend looking around and probably buying the first one we saw)

I got her a simpson thing...

We only got a 5.5kg machine...

My fault but i gave them the dimensions and said make it fit.

SWMBO wanted it ASAP so just took it off the floor what was in stock.

The old machine wasn't washing that good she told me anyway.

Not happy with 5.5KG but IMO who cares!!!!

She does, so it may become for sale and will repeat it again..

+1. My F&P is 10 years, has moved 3 times and had a new brain 2 years ago, also still going strong (the plastic around the oft used buttons are worn).

F&p do make ok products but they do suffer from the problems already mentioned...
circuit board dies. Wasn't a cheap fix last time I priced it.
Buttons wear out. Again fixable but not sure of the price.

Sent from my GT-I9100 using AustFreqFly

Pleased to report the delivery went smoothly (phone call ~ 830am confirming delivery window 10a-12p then 15min warning call).

New machine is brilliant - washes clothes so much better and come out so much drier than the old Simpson we had.

Would def use appliancesonline again!
