US Dividend Miles - Award Booking Questions and General Discussion

in theory :)

call TG, don't take 'no' for an answer. Point out their new flight has you arriving after your connection. Tell them, if necessary, that USDM is 'waiting for Thai to put the passenger on the right flight' (ie the 17th).

Basically TG is saying 'we don't have the authority to move your flights as only the booking airline can do that' and 'award tickets can only be changed thru the loyalty program on the ticket' so dumb.... even tho they have moved to a flight that mis connects all my other flights.

They said I need to call USDM back and tell them to get in touch with TG

WHAT A HEAD ****

yeah. This is common. you just have to tell them you have spoken with USDM, and USDM is saying that TG needs to move before they can validate the ticket with the new flight.

USDM can see your connecting flights - so they know they have moved you onto the wrong connection.

Maybe you might have to call Thailand.

Yep, I'm not overly concerned at the moment however if more flights change it could be an issue.

I'll try Thailand

I have always fixed this stuff by email through one of the Australian offices. Specifically outlining that Thai has caused the misconnection and you need to be reaccomodated. They put the segment in the booking and then USDM revalidates, they don't have to change your reservation.

I'd point out to them they clearly had the authority to do it when they cancelled the original flight, it was simply an arbitrary decision on their part which flight they moved you to...US had no say in it. So why can't they now schedule change you again.

Old mate in the Australian call centre is pretty good. I'm almost on first name terms with him I've done so many seat assignments over the phone!

i sent an email to all their offices in Aus and got the response i wanted.

swapped the flights to the 17th and now have to call USDM to get it validated/ticketed... what should i say to USDM? 'can you please validate my new flight date?'

Great work! Which office ended up helping out? Yep if you look at your reservation on the USDM website it should have the two segments in there now, so you just need them to revalidate the ticket for the correct one. No different to any other schedule change.

Thai really need to sort out their automated system for schedule changes, as I think it consistently just puts you on the next flight regardless of connections (even if they are on TG metal) when often it is the preceding flight which is required. Would save themselves a whole heap of work and us a whole heap of chasing around in circles.

A question about current promotion of buy and receive 100% bonus miles. The maximum number of Buy and Gift Bonus miles that can be received by one member for any offer is 50,000 bonus miles. Is that per offer or per member (over 1 year)?? What time period does it cover??

You can have one stopover per itinerary.

If you cancel the taxes paid will be refunded. You then must pay $150 fee to have the miles you used redeposited into your account. Obviously you will lose any booking fees etc you have paid to US.

The membership guide would be a good place to start for learning the rules: US Airways | Dividend Miles membership guide

The cap is per offer.

Arriving J class and connecting to F class you will have F lounge access at BKK. On the return if you are arriving into BKK in F and connecting to J you will be given F lounge access (provided of course your inbound/outbound are within a reasonable time period - otherwise you will be a J class passenger with J lounge access).

Accommodation? I can't recall anyone having received that from TG for a schedule change. (Happy to be proven wrong :)) I know someone claimed from their insurance (under the cancellation of flight provisions) - so check you policy to see if that applies.

Understand that on the lounge access.. however their reschedule means my parents now require an overnight in BKK whereas originally it was only a transit :) Sure you can a reasonable room for $100 or so but it's more the principle of it!

The lounge info was for appaz.

I think travel insurance might be the way to go. But you can always ask TG. Maybe they'll surprise us :)

I think we spied little snoozing rooms off the corridor (to the showers) when in the BKK F lounge. The private-ish rooms in the main area would be too light and noisy to easily sleep, albeit very comfortable for normal waiting.

yes but unfortunately the lounge closes from about 1am-5am. there is an airside transit hotel, but I've heard it's expensive.
