US Dividend Miles - Award Booking Questions and General Discussion

Re: US Dividend Miles - post your SUCCESSFUL award bookings here.

agree... first is still first. although the difference on the A380 is marginal, given the departure time probably all that is needed is a quick meal, and the seat is full flat. the only thing really missing would be the buggy to the plane flying C... as your sister will have F lounge access anyway.

I would change via zrh though if possible.

I didn't think you can use the TG F lounge at BKK if your next flight out is J?

If you arrive in F with an onward connection in J you are taken to the F lounge.

Do (m)any other F lounges work this way ?

just about all of them... PROVIDED you are arriving and departing on the same carrier and you are using the airline's own (not shared) lounge. in the case of LH/LX you can be arriving and departing in the same airline group.

arriving in F and departing on another carrier in business class will generally not get you access to the F lounge.

Possibly a stupid question..... How likely am I to be able to book a 9 segment trip... when 2 segments are US domestic... does that make a difference? Is their an 8 segment rule and is it routinely applied ...or???

8 to 10 is the norm, so shouldn't be any issues so long as it's required segments e.g. not just adding in for the sake of it!

Re: US Dividend Miles Buy/Gift Miles 100% bonus - Cheap way for F/J *A Awards

Well since the merger is coming up, I've signed up for an account, hoping a 100% bonus may magically appear.

Re: US Dividend Miles Buy/Gift Miles 100% bonus - Cheap way for F/J *A Awards

I signed up about a month ago and getting their regular holiday emails but no bonus offers as yet.

think I read somewhere it might be useful to buy some to try and tick some sort of box in their marketing. Is there an amount which is generally accepted? Or is 1000 for $35 enough?

Re: US Dividend Miles - post your SUCCESSFUL award bookings here.

Guys how flexible are miles redemptions on partner airlines ?
Are you able to make date changes (and at what $ cost) ?
How about cancellations (before commencement of journey) ? Would you get a full refund of any taxes/fees/charges paid as well as miles ?

Thanks
Excuse the OT

You can make changes, $150 per passenger.
Cancellations should refund taxes/fees but not the booking fee, etc.

Is the 100% offer ALWAYS targeted ?
Or so they sometimes have general 100% offers as well ? Or are the general offers only 50% ?
When do the best general offers often come about ? I know no guarantees, etc, but at what time of the year have they been happening the last few years ?

They often have general 100%. If you haven't been targetted.. log on and do a dummy buy, often it will give you the bonus.

You can only buy 50k miles in a calendar year is that correct ?
If that's the case I may just buy a small quantity for now...

No restrictions on USDM. Once it becomes AAdvantage though, that's a different story...:!:

Have a great African trip for 4 in C booked and done for Jan but includes Egypt. Wife now doesnt want to go due to issues there. Will US look at the fact that Australia advises no travel or is it just bad luck and pay to change?
