US Dividend Miles - Award Booking Questions and General Discussion

I've got a J GUM trip booked for Jan - I was hoping if all goes well to do an F GUM trip with hopefully a HKG stopover - I wonder if I should be buying miles now for it and booking it next month?

i you have a trip in mind AND are confident there will be no schedule changes or cancellations then I would go ahead and book asap. There will undoubtedly be heavy call centre traffic now the decision has been announced.

AA rules are very strict. They have cheap (for now) one ways - but there must be a published fare on the route you want (and availability) in order for it to be ticketed as an award. Not to mention a raft of restrictions on regions you can transit.

quick question:
I'm flying to europe with a stop in HKG on the way back, my flight from SIN to CDG is via CPH

I want a couple of days in CPH, you think if i call and pay the $150 pp and just request a date change on my CPH-CDG flight they will notice that I already have a stop in HKG and say no, or just put it through?

I'd be happy to pay the $150pp for a few days in CPH, i guess is they say no i could just HUACA

also will this change my ENTIRE itinerary/booking references or just a simple change with SK whom i flying that leg with?

you can but try. you might get an agent that doesn't pick up the extra stop.

booking reference will stay the same. e-ticket may or may not change... likely stay the same as it is a revalidation.

(thinking about it - the stopover will trigger a reprice of taxes... that might clue any agent to the stopover.)

i was going to go for the exact same flight number just a couple of days later... it's just an intra europe flight with SK

why would the taxes change? i really want to spend some time in CPH ... will give it a crack tonight and let you know how it goes :)

Yes, saw that on the blogs this morning, what I'm really interested to see now is some sort of revised timeline from AA/US on when things will happen.

7th January is being touted as a Critical date.

See here as well:
Upcoming milestones about US and oneworld.

To summarize:
- Court hearing 25 November (For Judge [-]approval[/-] rubber stamp)
- Early December - the deal closes
- 7 January 2014 - this is a "big day"- integration of the frequent flyer programs

With *A and *O, US has been in the process of exiting *A for a few months in terms of not selling *A tickets - plans to be in OW in January.

tax will likely change because you are going to stop rather than transit CPH. Any additional departure taxes will apply (if applicable)

hmmm i have already selected seats for the long haul legs and don't want my reference codes to change...

the only code that will change would be for the individual airline (in this case SK) correct?

you should re-read my original response to you regarding (no) change of code.

Hi there,
I'm trying to organise a nested trip; I'll be in Europe next year and I am hoping to organise a trip from Europe (preferably Germany) to CBR or MEL/SYD via USA leaving in April and going back in July. I've searched ANA but have come in empty handed; the only thing I've found is in Y. Ideas are most welcome... thanks in advance.

You can't fly from Europe -> Australia via USA.

Not that I can tell, but you'll be limited (in essence) to whatever you can make the online engine spit out, which must strictly be all one class of service.

and even then they have some serious problems with through flights... AU-SIN and SIN-Europe can be available separately... but not bookable as a single ticket MEL-LHR in some cases until T-14 days.

I have my parents booked on an F trip SYD-CDG in May, returning in Aug next year.... are there any thoughts about impacts to that after Jan 7?

once ticketed it will be honoured.

If this is TG/TG then both the SYD and CDG legs are pretty much basic business for TG (ie couple of flights a day, unlikely to be changed too much except maybe the afternoon departure from SYD). Ex CDG your parents will be covered by EU261.

just keep an eye on the bookings, and potential schedule changes via airlineroute.net. Any schedule changes for May should be out while USDM is still able to work with star.

Thanks, that's what I was hoping.... I have airlineroute.net RSS setup and check it most days....

THere are 4 TG F legs and 1 LH J leg (FCO-FRA)...

What do the award ticket rules say about stopovers? Can one have two? If travelling to the US from SYD via Asia, can there be a stop in Asia in addition to the destination city in the US?

One stopover or one open-jaw, not both - and no more than 1. So only 1 stopover. But in regards to what you're asking... you stop at the destination (that is the destination) and if then stopping in Asia enroute back to Australia that is your LIC-MS220-8P-1YR
