US Dividend Miles - Award Booking Questions and General Discussion

I too would appreciate the input of the clever brigade:

TG461 arr into MEL at 20:00 - TG471 arr into SYD at 20:00 - if arr into SYD what chance catching any of below flts to MEL instead of overnighting in SYD?

If you've got any sort of delay it would be troublesome. I personally wouldn't risk it.

Doing F through SYD? I'd be looking up history of the flight seeing it if it's delayed etc

and General Discussion

With separate tickets, take the 10:05pm QF flights - at least the 'seamless' transfer bus service would then be available to you.

They depart T1 on the hour and every 20 minutes at that time of night (with the last at 21:20 IIRC) - it's generally pretty quiet.

Being in F (hopefully with an express pass) you might luck out with the 20:40.

Thanks hummel - figured it would be too light - I would do F SYD-BKK-ZRH / F FRA-BKK then J BKK-MEL if it was permitted but they tell me cannot.

Yep have to return to the same starting point.

Maybe you could book a refundable rate at an airport hotel, then cancel just before your flight leaves BKK if it looks like it's going on time. Then pay/use points for a last minute booking home on VA/QF?

At the end of the day, are you going to feel up to driving home from MEL at 11pm after all that flying even in F?

Are people still booking for past the amalgamation date, if so how concerned are you and how likely is it that as someone said, "you're on your own if anything goes wrong"?

you can google 'images' for the star alliance F lounge at CDG :)

I was there a couple of months ago. It is indeed a long walk. There's not a lot of atmosphere in it, with no external vistas, but the champagne was nice. Nice bathrooms too.

only one open jaw or one stopover permitted. here into ZRH and out FRA creates an open jaw. can't have another.

if you got rid of that open jaw you could fly back to MEL.

or alternatively fly both in and out of FRA and then a cheap one-way back to ZRH. Depends if that cheap one way off-sets the alternative :)
Yes all this is possible - problem is it is now getting just too complicated to get the OZ-BKK / BKK-OZ legs in F rather than J.

is anyone else having trouble with beta.awardtravelr? it's not working for me today (or yesterday)

Anybody using the United search tool?

OZ F availability is looking frighteningly poor for Dec :(

Any chance OZ would be pulling award availability like SQ do?
