US Dividend Miles - Award Booking Questions and General Discussion

I still don't seem to be seeing any availability inside 14 days for simple MEL-SIN trips using awardtravelr.

Which dates are you looking at? I called yesterday to check J flights ex SYD/MEL/BNE to SIN and there was nothing available for the first 2 weeks of April.

SQ J awards between Australia (and NZ) and SIN are now only available within 14 days of departure...SQ made this change in mid December.

i'm looking for F or J NRT-SIN on the 31/12 if anyone can find a direct flight that would be swell...

otherwise i'll go via ICN with OZ in F/J

I'm talking within 2 weeks of departure. Looking for 8th Feb right now all it gives is MEL-BKK-SIN on TG.

Thanks bcworld, I was not aware of that.
Do they usually have good availability ex OZ?

On the 773 and A330 products it was excellent. LifeMiles had decent availability on the 77W and A380 too - but US won't book those.

Now availability is still excellent but only at T-14.

It's a shame that staff at US call centre are not aware of this change.

It's not that they have to be aware of it. They simply look at what they can find and tell you 'no' if they can't find it. Not a hell lot you can do, and now that you're on this forum at least you know HUACA is a fruitless exercise in this case (and the same goes for forcing NN, which I think is a dubious request anyway).

The fact that none of us can find it either as available means it's moot for them to know any better.

Hey everyone,

Looking to make another Gum booking with hopefully a stopover in Japan :)

But looking for some advice about which flights there and back are the best for an F redemption.
I really know very little about which planes are better than others etc and which carriers are any good.
For my last redemption i just used awardtravlr and picked flights which had some J and F available. But this time am keen to get the best bang for my 'buck'.

Cheers.

from australia you're pretty much limited to first class on TG or CA.

even if you get F class on TG via bkk to NRT, worth keeping an eye on schedule changes as they're moving some of their a380s around, and in some cases dropping F.

It's a shame that staff at US call centre are not aware of this change.

To be honest I don't think it's their place to know what SQ is up to...the 14 day thing is not something that's been officially communicated to anyone AFAIK, therefore it could also change at any time - so if you ask them to look for it, they'll look for it.

Is anyone going to the TG BKK F lounge any time soon? If so, are you able to take a photo of the drinks menu please? :D

Trying to call US Airways - we are very busy at the moment please call back later - call disconnects.

WTF?

US airways has issued a travel advisory commencing 3 February.

you can check whether an advisory is in effect on their website.

potential delays answering calls, and sometime no award booking service at all during those times.

FWIW I always call US Airways around 10pm Melbourne time and get through within a few minutes.

Oh good, I wasn't sure if US airways had blacklisted me or not! :D

Just found some more F seats opening up, so I'm trying to get on them before they go. You snooze you loose and all that.
